Chapter One: Redheads Are The Wildest In Bed.

Start from the beginning

"You do miss Caleb." He certainly did. It wasn't even hard to miss. There was this old picture of Sam and Caleb when they were younger, maybe in eighth grade that was on his wall. I always noticed when he looked at it with a hidden smile on his face as if remembering something. Sometimes he even looked at his phone expecting his friend to call and when Caleb did, he would play off as if he never cared but he did.

"No, I don't." He muttered, kicking at a rock as we walked down the busy sidewalk.

"Don't lie to me," I punched his shoulder lightly. "He's like your ninth brother. Of course, you miss him."

"Okay, okay maybe I do kind of-not really miss him," Sam said low enough for me to hear and I grinned widely.

"I knew it," I said in a sing-song voice.

He slung an arm around me, the fabric of his leather jacket rubbing against my Adidas jacket. "I'm never going to say that to his face though so shut it." He ended that sentence of my kissing the side of my head.

As we continued walking down the street I spot a couple of people from one of my classes laughing and crossing the street. One of the girls spotted us and walked over.

My hold on my drink tightened as she walked over with a bright smile on her face. Wait for it... She directed that smile at Sam before turning over at me. I saw the shift in her expression, the way the smile slipped off her face quickly before she covered up the look with a fake smile.

Ding! Ding! Ding! There it is!

The 'holy shit its Sam Cahill but then...there's his girlfriend' look. I've gotten that look from tons of girls whenever I was with Sam for the past month.

It's honestly nothing new.

"Hey, Sam." She said, not even resisting putting a hand on his arm. Wow, that was quick. Usually, it took a little more time before the girl tried to touch him.

"Hi..." He said with no interest. I could get him out of this, seeing as he quickly glanced at me but I wanted to see what he would do. I stepped out of his hold and took a step back. He snuck a glare at me and I bit back laughter as he started talking, looking bored. He was bored. "Julie right?"

The girl, who was not a Julie because of the offended look on her face, blinked in disbelief. I could tell she was not used to people not remembering her name. She was pretty I'd give her that and I swear I've seen her before. She's part of the swim team. I think the B one. "It's Olivia."

I turned my head away and snorted. He could at least get the first letter right. "Oh." Was all Sam said, stuffing his hands in his leather jacket pocket. He didn't look nervous. He rarely ever is. He radiated confidence. It practically shone off of him, in the way he walked, the way he talked to people or even looked at them. It made him more alluring and attractive.

"But anyway some of my friends and I were wondering if you wanted to come with us. We're going to-"

She didn't get to finish her sentence as Sam shook his head. "Thanks but no thanks. I'm heading back to campus." I mean we literally came from class and his next class was at three and it was only twelve.

"I can walk you." She said, trailing her fingers up his arm. Wow, now she was touching him.

There was this flame inside me.

It was burning.

Not of passion.

But of something else, if she didn't get her hands off him.

"It's fine."

Fine.

He said fine meaning he was getting annoyed. I watched him squint his eyes at the girl's face who clearly did not want to leave him alone any time soon. I mean neither did I but I had an excuse for that. His patience was running thin and as much as I wanted him to literally walk by her and grab my arm I decided to do something.

"You can walk him to my dorm," I said to the girl with a fake smile. I turned to Sam. "I'll meet you there I just need to stop at the store. You want me to get them? We kind of ran out after last time." I implied something in my words and the girl's eyes widened as she stared at me.

Sam's shoulders shook with laughter for a second before he caught on. "Yeah, yeah get a box or two, might as well last the whole night."

"Large right?" I asked even though she was right there. She wasn't stupid clearly as we continued talking and I wasn't stupid. The majority of friends I had were the weirdest most sexual boys ever.

Sam scoffed. "You know I'm not just a large."

The girl in front of us grew more uncomfortable by the minute and she slowly backed away. "Um, I'll see you later Sam." She walked back to her friends and I burst out laughing.

Sam didn't join in the laughter as he stared at me seriously. "Wait so you're not actually going to get them?"

"In your dreams," I mumbled, grabbing his arm as we continued walking.

Sam sighed dramatically with disappointment as I intertwined my hands with his. "Oh well, at least my dreams are wild."

I almost shoved him onto the street. "You are disgusting."

"And yet you are still in love with me." He grinned, steadying himself before slinging an arm around my shoulder.

"That I am," I confirmed and that's all he wanted to hear as I saw that look in his eyes. The one that purely and most utterly showed me his love for me.

He kissed me lightly on the lips before we continued walking through the cold back to campus. He seemed at home. At peace. I didn't know if it was because even though we weren't at the area where he had originally been raised but he was on the soil of his most familiar country. You could see the ease on his face as we walked and it settled me.

Our friends were scattered around the world. Our families in the same town near the border of America and Canada, where I had grown up.

Yet we were together.

Yet we were together
