Get Back On

Chapter 6

She turned on the song "Too Much". After we did the routine it was time to do the flips. I did a limping run alongside Maddie and went into a Randolph and then into a triple.

I went into a cartwheel to start the Randolph and focus on keeping my left leg from touching the ground. It worked perfectly and then came the triple. I balled myself up and flipped in the air. We both landed perfectly. She squealed. "Your fucking crippled and you still landed it." She tackled me into a hug.

She pulled away and that's when the boys decided to join us. Jake was looking at me but you couldn't read his expression. So since I'm a pretty cool person I jumped into his arms and he caught. "See I told you guys I could land the damn thing."

His arms tightened. "Yea but you could have gotten hurt." I shrugged. Everyone was looking at us with knowing smirks. "Paige why don't we all go back to your place?" Bing had built this garage type thing that as a game room. It was big and homey and had a huge sofa and bean bags. "Yea we can go to the game room and have a movie night or something."

"I can't go my parents are expecting me." Ty said. Jake set me down. "So what about y'all too?" Turns out Jakes other friend was named Emmet. He had dirty blond hair and blue eyes. I knew Maddie was crushing. Jake and Emmet looked at each other. "Sure, we have nothing better to do. Let us just go change and we'll meet you there." Maddie gave Emmet her number and I went to kiss Storm goodbye.

We climbed into our vehicles and went separate ways. This was gonna be one hella night.

We arrived at my house and we told Lou and Bing about the movie night. They smirked at me and I rolled my eyes. Maddie went to get drinks and snacks while I got pillows and blankets.

I changed into black nike skin tight shorts and a burgundy long sleeved shirt. I slipped on my pink slides and dragged all the blankets outside. I dragged them down the long path to the building. Bing hid it so no one could see his secret hide out.

I opened the door to see Maddie setting up the snacks and drinks on the table in the corner. She looked at me and smirked. "It's just a movie night." I rolled my eyes. "I could say the same to you." She was dressed in leggings and a flannel. She glared. I was setting up the DVD player when Jake and Emmet walked in.

I looked up and Jake was smirking at me. I had to admit he even looked hot in sweat pants. He was wearing black nike sweats and a grey long sleeved shirt with a black jacket zipped up halfway. "What?" I glared at him. Maddie came over to me and slung her arm over my shoulder. "I was thinking of a fast and the furious marathon." I spoke up.

They nodded and I put the first one in while they sat down on the couch. There was an empty space between Jake and Maddie. I plopped down between them and stole some of Jake's blanket. He looked down at me and smirked. "What, I'm cold." He shrugged off his jacket and put it over my shoulders and I put my arms through it. "Thanks." He just nodded.

Maddie and Emmet talked the whole time. In the end the were both knocked out. I curled up into Jakes chest and began to go to sleep. I felt him kiss my forehead and then I was out.

I woke up the next morning to see that Jake and Emmet were gone. Maddie had started to clean up the mess we had made. I stretched my sore muscles from sleeping in the couch all night and groaned. Maddie looked over at me and snickered. "That was the best idea I had ever had." I rolled my eyes and got up. I looked down to see that I still had Jakes jacket on. It went to do my mid-thigh and that's when I realized how much bigger he was then me.

I folded the blankets and put them on the John Deere thing outside that Maddie had drove down earlier. I went back inside and swept the floors and put all the drinks and snacks away. We climbed into the John Deere and I drove it to the back door of the house. We dragged the blankets into the house and put them away. After we were done we decided to clean the whole house from top to bottom.

When we had finished it was around 6 in the afternoon and it was dark outside. I had given Storm a few days off since the formal and stuff had kept me busy but I figured I should get back to work. I changed into jeans,knee high boots, a flannel and threw on my north face.

Maddie dropped me off and the barn and decided to go home since we had school the next day. I walked down the barn aisle and toward Storms stall. He was leaning up against the back of the stall but when he saw me and bolted toward the stall door. "Hey gorgeous I see you missed me." He snorted.

I went inside and put his halter on. I took off his sheet and left his raps on. I will always still think Storm is gorgeous. He was jet black even tho his coat was a little dull. His scars you could see clearly but it was like he was proud of them. He was a giant and easily towered over all the other horses.

I led him toward the ring with the barrels and he was prancing and snorting. I rolled my eyes. I opened the gate,led him through, and closed it. I did join up again and he responded quicker every time. I managed to grab a bridle from the tack room. I put the reins over his head and put the bit in his mouth. I pulled the headstall over his head.

I placed my hands onto the middle of his back and jumped on. He tensed but I ran my hand on his neck to calm him down. He relaxed and I tapped his sides to make him walk. He snorted as he went by each barrel. I tapped him into a trot and he became a little more jittery. I rubbed his withers to let him know that I was still there.

I collected the reins and asked him to canter. It was a little rough at first but he finally smoothed it out. I didn't run the pattern, more like just riding near then and in between them. After about an hour of riding I called it quits. I slid off, took off the bridle, and put his halter back on.

I led him to his stall in the very back of the barn and put him in his stall. I put his sheet back on,fed him, watered him, and put his halter on the hook. I returned the bridle to the tack room and texted Bing to come get me.

He pulled up ten minutes later and he could tell I was exhausted. "Paige I think you need a break. Your pushing yourself pretty hard. Just try and go slow for a while." I groaned. "I'm so tired Bing and I have dumbass school tomorrow." He snickered. "Well look you have exams in like a week or two right? Then it's Christmas break so just get through these last two weeks and then you can sleep all you want."

"I'm just so tired Bing. The nightmares are so bad and if I'm not at school I'm at the barn. The only good thing is, is that Storm is doing amazingly well." He nodded. "That great and you know you can always ask Lou or me to sleep with you some nights. That always seemed to work with your nightmares."

I nodded and we pulled up at the house. I went inside and up to my room to take a hot shower. I pulled on a bra and panty set along with grey joggers and a black long sleeved shirt. I crawled into bed and let sleep take over me. I just need 3 years of sleep but we all know that's not possible.
