I had a good life. A big house in the Hamptons, an unbelievably rich, handsome husband, and anything I could ever possibly want at my disposal. At the age of twenty-two, I had it made. Dominic was the perfect husband, we had married shortly after we met at a mutual friends birthday party. It was an instant attraction for Dominic, he came over to me and tryed the small talk approach, but failed horribly. Once he realized he was making a complete ass of himself, he nervously asked me if I would mind accompanying him for a night on the town. It was a sweet gesture, but at the time I was busy with school and didnt want any unneeded distractions.
I turned him down that night, but he was very persistant and struck up a conversation that seemed to be endless. Three hours and one too many cocktails later, the party was coming to an end. I lived within walking distance of the venue that the party was held at, Dominic offered to escort me home. Considering the fact that I was completely incoherent, I obliged.
Thanks to the tequila, I couldn't take two steps without stumbling over myself, Dominic effortlessly carried me the complete six block walk to my townhouse. When we arrived, Dominic unlocked my door and carried me into my living room and gently laid me down on the couch, I was alseep within minutes.
The next morning, I awake to a loud knock at my door. It sounded like someone was trying break into my house with a sledgehammer... I can thank the hangover for that. I walked to the door and opened it. A delivery truck was parked outside of my home. A vertically challenged, heavy set man stood on my door step. " I have a delivery for Hannah." he said in a cheerful manner. "I'm Hannah." I replied. The man then handed me a clipboard and asked me to sign for the delivery. "I didn't order anything." I protested, but he had already turned and headed for the truck. When he returned, he had four dozen roses in hand. My mouth dropped, as he walked past me and placed the beautiful arrangement of red and pink roses on my coffee table. "Must be a lucky guy." He stated as he grabbed the clipboard and started back to the truck.
I closed my front door and walked over to the flowers. There was a card attached with my name written on it. I grabbed the small, red envelope and opened it. The card on the inside simply read;
Dinner?
762-555-8356
-Dom
Dominic wouldn't take no for an answer...
