1? When The Moon Bleeds

Start from the beginning

But nothing, except the eerie silence that echoed throughout the halls.

On a regular day, birds sang a cheerful tune beyond the windows, life thrived beyond the doors. Cherub laughter and the distant ruffle of giant wings accompanied with a gentle melody someone played not far from their abode.

Until, in an uncanny turn of events there was nothing to hear at all.

Every sound ceased to a complete halt...

—On a Christmas Day.

Aura opened her eyes.

And just like that... in a place of eternal peace erupted an onslaught of chaos.

Hell was empty and all of the devils were here.

The oak door to the library splintered as it crashed against the wall, the impact echoing with a deafening boom.

A giant stormed into the room with the eye of a madman in search of his daughter, his body pausing movement so that his hazel eyes could dart between the two leopards until they locked onto little Aura.

She was midway from curling into a seated position until her father had stormed in.

He wasted no time in racing towards her waking body, thick arms reaching out to throw her into his chest, engulfing her in a warm hug as he scooped her up. "Hold onto me." He muttered with an urgency in his voice Aura had never heard before.

All it took was a jerk of his head, and Deana had spurred into action, until a larger, greater snow leopard bounded into the room. His paws slapping onto the floor as he regarded Michael with a look of trepidation.

The warrior didn't waste time, he was already compiling solutions in his head for his daughters safety.

He tried not to let his fear seep past his guard due to her ability to sense another's emotion, but failed when she clutched tightly onto his jacket in concern.

Not a moment too long was spent standing there deciding on action, as Michael shot Daena and her son a look. All the orders they needed to bound through the door he'd slammed open.

Then, before the eerie silence could consume them all, the warrior moved.

His feet were lightning, but as silent as a hunting predator as he beckoned for Skye to follow. They moved through door to door, tearing through the estate that he suddenly wished wasn't so ridiculously big.

All this space and nowhere to hide her from the monsters.

Monsters that would take his daughter away from him.

In a spark of golden light emanating from his skin, Michael emerged onto the patio to spread his wings.

Just before he could take flight there was a roar. A battle had begun somewhere within their home, his ears picking up a sinister hiss.

As if that had been queue, the silence of the outside world shattered and rang with the shrilling cries of innocents like twisted symphonies in the air.

Death was making his dramatic entrance as a battle raged between the vampires and his leopards. Warning snarls ripped through the interrupted silence, coupled with the sound of falling bodies and the angry shriek of a leopard.

The clink of metals crashing to the ground, followed by a whimper... a sickening crunch and the whimper stopped, then a wail of undiluted rage he felt deep within his own core.

Michael clenched his jaw. If he heard correctly, he had lost Daena... and soon Micca.

None of this would be in vain. Not Daena, not Micca not him. His sweet little Aura who'd never gotten to know the ways of the worlds, she would still have a chance.
