3. Tunnels and Storms

Start from the beginning

Patra finally spoke up, "OK, now we go fast. Keep your lights on and run. I don't know how long this tunnel goes for but we will reach the end, I swear to the stickbrain Creators! If anybody else dies, keep moving. We need to keep deaths to a minimum. Now let's move out". Patra turned away from the group and started leading out front again, running as fast as she could. Mary took hold of Vickie's shaking hand and took off after a while. But not before the green-eyed girl looked once more at her mutilated friend. Milly was just about to take off when Y/N caught her small wrist in her calloused hands.
"You stay with me", she said quietly but in a serious tone, "You stay close to me at all times, understand?". The small blonde nodded and took hold of Y/N's hand properly, "I understand". With that, the two took off as fast as they could down the dark tunnel, the only light being that of the many flashes of the girls' torches.

~Time Skip~

Y/N looked at her watch again: 12:45pm. She sighed out in frustration, they had still not reach an end and it had been at least an hour and 15 minutes. In that hour and 15 minutes, more screams were heard and more blood was splattered, but they all kept moving. Most of the girls that were killed were girls Y/N had no clue who they were, which saddened her a bit. 'No! Got to stay focussed...', she said to herself as she continued running with Milly right beside her. Even with the flashlights on, they hadn't ever spotted the creature in which was killing all of them. It was like it was silent as an assassin and invisible like air, light as it too! It was weird, what was it?

Suddenly, Y/N heard Patra's cry of pain from up ahead. Everyone stopped and waited to hear what was happening to Patra.
"Ouch...", the leader groaned, getting back to her feet, "I found something". Everyone started murmuring with curiousity, some yelling, "What is it?".
"Stairs". Just that word alone made Y/N sigh with relief.
"Do they go up or down?".
"If they led down, stickbrain, I would've fallen down them. What do you think!", Patra snapped back, really not in the mood for stupid questions. The dark-skinned girl starting walking up them, flashing her light upon the stairs, until her head hit the roof. She started feeling about the ceiling and found a knob-like attachment hanging from it.
"Hey! I think this is a door!", she called back to the others as she jiggled the knob. Her hand twisted it right and then she pushed, letting very bright sunlight into the dark tunnel.

Y/N had to hold her hand up to her eyes because it was so bright, and she was at the back of the group! They had all been in the dark so long that their eyes had a hard time adjusting to the sudden brightness. Patra immediately stepped back down into the tunnel, the doir closing immediately.
"My God, is that bright!", she cried as she blinked her eyes a few times to adjust again. "And it's right, damn hot up there too. So I suggest that you cover yourselves up good or you'll blister within half an hour of being out there". Everyone had jeans and jackets on, but they had nothing really to cover their heads with.
"What about the bedsheets from the dorm?", everyone turned around to the small blonde who suggested it, all surprised that she had actually said something.
"That's a great idea, Milly!", Evie said from up head.
"Yeah!"
"That could work"
"Come on, partner up and share two sheets, one bed sheet won't be enough to cover you", Patra shouted the command as everyone buddied up, "Teresa, you're with me". The other Glader in question walked silently up to Patra and took out her bed sheet and covered her and Patra in it. 'Obviously Patra still doesn't trust her', Y/N concluded as she unpacked her bed sheet and covered herself and Milly with it. The E/C eyed Glader couldn't blame her, Teresa was nothing but suspicious! She just showed up and was very composed and unfazed by it all. Like she knew what was happening...

"Alright! On 3, I will open this door and step out with Teresa. Harriet and Vickie, follow through and lead the others while Teresa and I keep the door open. Just walk straight ahead, don't stop. OK, 1...2...3!", Patra shouted, throwing open the door and allowing light and heat into the tunnel of darkness. The first two ran out and stepped aside to hold the door open. Harriet and Vickie then ran out and walked straight ahead into the heat, followed by Sonya and Evie, and so on. Y/N Milly were, of course, the last pair and so quickly ran up the staircase and into the wide world. Whatever Y/N expected or thought about the Scorch, nothing could have prepared her for this. It was desolate, there was basically nothing in sight. It was flat, dry, cracked ground that went on for miles and miles, never ending. And the sun, oh God the sun was hot. And it was, about, 1:15pm so the sun was still pretty central in the sky. This meant that Group B was getting hammered by heat quite heavily.
