Jimin followed Yoongi to the elevator and Yoongi pressed the button for the fourth floor. "Oh, sorry, what's your apartment number?"
"Ten-thirteen." Jimin answered. Yoongi laughed and shook his head before stepping away from the buttons.
"Well, hello there new neighbor. The old woman who lived in that apartment died a few months ago, and they've been trying to rent it out ever since." Jimin almost dropped his key at the news, having to fumble around to save it from hitting the ground.
"She died?" Jimin asked, like he'd never heard of anyone passing away before. He'd experienced plenty of loss however, his mom was part pixie and his relatives got stepped on all the time. It had gotten to the point where Jimin wouldn't even cry at their deaths anymore; he didn't have time to be that sad that often.
"In her sleep, the land lord said she had a heart attack." Yoongi looked over at Jimin, whose eyes looked ready to fall out of his head. He rested an arm on Jimin's shoulder and quirked an eyebrow. "You're not afraid of ghosts, are you Jimin?"
Jimin blew a raspberry and flicked his hand nonchalantly. "No, of course not. That would be silly." Jimin looked over at Yoongi. "Did she really die in the apartment though."
Yoongi laughed as the elevator dinged open, and walked towards his apartment without answering Jimin's question. Jimin walked to his own apartment and struggled to fit the key in the hole. His room at home recognized him immediately and opened up when it sensed him. Jungkook's room opened with fairy dust. There was no such thing as a key, or key holes, and Jimin didn't have to worry about the metal slipping through his chubby fingers.
Yoongi watched him out of the corner of his eye, smile threatening to break through as Jimin struggled with the key. When he finally got it, Jimin yelled happily and Yoongi couldn't hold back his smile. He wasn't sure why, but there was something about Jimin that made him feel lighter. There had been no awkward getting to know you conversations, it was like they had been friends forever and Jimin already knew everything he had to. (Because he did. But Yoongi didn't know that.)
"I'll see you around, Jimin." Yoongi said, opening his own apartment door. Jimin looked up at him, a huge grin on his face as he nodded excitedly. Yoongi shut his door and Jimin walked into his apartment, noticing immediately the bright pink furniture and walls.
"Really, Hyung? You've got to be kidding me." Jimin muttered to himself. He walked past the furniture, dragging his finger tips against each piece gently, turning the pink upholstery to a less gaudy white.
"It took me a whole day to pick out that furniture, leave it alone!" Seokjin's voice sounded throughout his apartment and Jimin jumped, knocking over a stack of books that he was trying to revert to their original color.
"What? Where are you?" Jimin asked, looking around. He expected Seokjin to be sat in the corner, his wand held in his hand. He'd done that before, shown up in Jimin's room and sat ominously in the corner until Jimin noticed him.
Jimin sat on his couch and waited for Seokjin's voice to greet him again. "I'm still at home, but I'm talking through the Great Book, I stole it from the council."
"Stole it from the council," Jimin mocked, "I know Namjoon hyung just gave it to you, no need to lie."
"Shut up, Jimin. How did things go today?" Seokjin asked. Jimin could imagine Seokjin leaning back in his chair, wand lazily hanging in his fingers as he stared down at the Great Book. And then he thought about the fact that Namjoon was also there, looking at Seokjin like a love-sick puppy. Jimin smiled.
"Fine. I could literally feel the love pouring out of Hoseok. It was almost sickening." Jimin said. He pulled his back pack onto his lap and dumped it onto the coffee table. He sorted through his stuff, organizing the clothes from the small nicknacks he had brought with him. He had a picture of Taehyung, Jungkook and himself from the past years barbecue, Taehyung smiling with barbecue sauce smeared on his cheek, and Jungkook with a mouthful of mashed potatoes. It was a gross picture, but it was Jimin's favorite.
"Did you make any progress?" Seokjin asked. Jimin could hear rustling and Seokjin mumbling quietly. The he heard him get up, and Seokjin talking to someone. He was being formal, and Jimin's eyes widened. Seokjin was top dog, and he only ever used formal dialect with members of the council. If they had caught him with the Great Book, he'd have his wings taken away.
"Bye Jimin," he heard Namjoon whisper, followed by a loud thud. He assumed that Namjoon had shut the book, cutting off the connection between his apartment in the mortal world and home. He sighed and stood up from the couch. Jimin began walking around again, changing things from pink to white, when there was a knock on his door.
It was Yoongi, standing outside with a questioning look on his face. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Jimin asked, his mouth going dry. Could he hear Seokjin talking to him? How could he explain that? Yeah, that was just my boss. No, he's not here right now, I was talking to him through a book.
"I heard a thud, I thought you had fallen or something. Maybe the ghost of old Miss Jeon got you." Yoongi winked cheekily and Jimin rolled his eyes. He'd forgotten about the ghost story until then, and he silently cursed Yoongi for bringing it back up.
"Oh, no I'm fine. I dropped a book." Yoongi looked at him skeptically. "It was a really heavy book."
"Well then goodnight, I guess. Don't let the ghost possess you. Miss Jeon was sort of annoying– rest in peace." Jimin laughed and closed the door, shaking his head. He walked back to the couch and pulled Yoongi's file into his lap. He read through it again, trying to pull any information from it that he could to try and make him fall for Hoseok.
Jimin fell asleep on the couch, the papers falling off his stomach and scattering around the floor as he rolled over. Jimin groaned, telling himself he'd just pick them up in the morning.
