The lioness leered straight at her with a look that clearly thought she was ' irrelevent'. And from the way she was speaking to the boys, Aura knew she was most probably asking why people were so afraid of her since it looked like she could 'break her in two'.
Aura didn't just know she'd said that. She heard it.
Oh yes, her hearing was that good.
"Hi!" Beamed a chirpy voice.
Aura decided to let go of the stare down competition she was having with the lion, to face a familiar pair of purple eyes.
Wild fiery curly locks, bronzed skin and a button nose.
Tanya. The girl Rodrick beat up on Aura's first day here.
She replied an unintelligible "mm" and continued with her lunch. She had to go back to Markus afterward to see if they could find any mermaids at the waterfall a few ten miles away. All energy she could get off this food would be severely needed.
"I'm not sure you remember me." Tanya chuckled nervously, "But I was there the first day you--"
"I remember." Aura interjected.
Those beans looks good, Amos mused.
"Really!" Gasped the girl beside her.
"It is." Aura agreed, throwing a lopsided grin in his direction.
"Huh?"
She paused to look at the red head who thought she could disturb her private, peaceful little rectangular table. Her private little corner, and stifled a groan.
"Nothing. Tanya what do you want?" She asked with her most practised patient voice. Not that she had to force it, angels tend to come with bucketloads of patience. Except Aura did grow quite fond of her quiet little corner where she could reside in solitude.
She found it quite rude how it had been so suddenly disturbed.
"O-oh nothing I-I just thought that maybe we could be friends." She sounded so defeated that her voice pulled on Aura's heartstrings. She might as well have been a puppy asking for her to be her owner.
Aww, Amos teased, chuckling.
She inwardly stepped on the urge to roll her eyes.
But looking past that, it was beyond Aura as to why she would ask her of all people. No one talks to her. Everyone's afraid of her. How did she even find the courage to approach her considering the rumours circulating around Aura and what creature she might be?
The girl was brave she had to give her that.
"Why on earth would you want to be friends with me?" She asked.
Perhaps she wasn't as brave as Aura was beginning to believe, with the way she picked at her fingernail, her lashes fanning her cheeks as she stared at her denim clad lap. "I... you know, I thought cause, since no one talks to either of us... they're scared of you, they're scared of me, that maybe... we could... you know... be friends or something?"
Scared of her? Aura frowned. So far there seemed to be nothing threatening about the violet eyed girl. In fact, she looked quite the opposite. But Aura knew better than to judge someone by their appearance. And when she focused on Tanya's energy, she felt an ancient soul residing beside her.
Tanya was a lot older than she let on.
Maybe not in body, but soul.
Red flames flashed in Aura's mind at the sight of Tanya. She tilted her head curiously.
