Not Such A Bad Guy

Start from the beginning

Suddenly all the girls jumped up and ran to the window. I shook my head at how pathetic they were acting.

“Where?!” They shouted desperately.

Kristen headed for the door. “He just walked into the building, if we hurry we can catch him the hallway downstairs!”

“Let’s go.” Angie said to the others at the window. The whole class got up and began making their way to the door.

“Excuse me?!” Mme. Brouers demanded after watching half her class go through the door.

“You’re excused!” Someone shouted right before bolting from the room. Even though I wasn’t interested in seeing him I still followed the class; it was either them or that woman for the other half an hour of class—the choice was pretty clear. When she realized that no one was staying she stormed down the hall behind us. Hey if you can’t beat them right?

We caught up to Caspian and Alexiel just as they got to the top of the stairs. The girls crowded him instantly.

“Mr. Carlton we missed you.” Taylor told him in that gushy nasty voice they used around him.

“Yeah.” Kara and Angie echoed. I rolled my eyes. They really were pathetic.

“You’re rather popular here,” Alexiel commented, “What happened?”

Caspian shrugged. “While running that errand for you I decided to take a teaching job to make it easier.” He mumbled low enough that no one was supposed to be able to hear but of course I did.

Alexiel nodded as if in approval. “Very clever.”

“Thank you.”

“So what brings you back?” Eric asked.

I’m sure they were all dying to know the answer to that question. He shrugged casually as if it was no big deal; trying to kept up his old façade. “The school I’m now working at already went off on winter break so I figured I would visit my favourite students.” He sure knew how to make the girls blush. They were all behaving like giddy air heads.

Mme. Brouers pushed her way to the front of the crowd; she was pissed. “You!” She shouted, throwing her finger in his face. “So you’re the one who disrupted my class!” she accused.

“My apologies.” Yeah right, “ The principal wants to meet with the following students after school: Chrystal Miller, Xavier Camdon, . . .” he was calling all the mythical students. I bet this had nothing to do with the principal. What was he up to . . . ? I was shocked back to focus when I heard my name being called. What could they have wanted with me as well?

“Good you’ve all heard now head back to class, all of you.” She ordered. No one paid any attention to her.

“Mr. Carlton will you come back to class with us?” Kara asked.

“Yeah, we stopped learning right after you left.” Lexy added.

“Maybe you could come teach us something.” Matthew suggested. All these statements affected the French woman and that only made her angrier. It pissed her off even more when we continued to ignore her.

“What do you say Alexiel? Fell like staying?” Caspian asked.

Alexiel shrugged. “Sure, it could be fun.”

True to their word they did stay and of course my class over exaggerated everything so they made him feel even more important than he was. For the whole class my head in my book. I didn’t want to see either of them; they were one and the same, both monsters who took advantage of young girls. I couldn’t believe that they were both able to pretend that nothing had ever happened. I was grateful when the bell rang and we had to go to biology. I needed to be far from them.
