Chapter 6: I'm out

Start from the beginning

"Call me when you are done," she said.

She drove off as Devil and I walked into the restaurant.

I took the time to look at my baby brother, he wore a white shirt with a leather jacket on the top and black jeans. His hair was swiped up, away from his forehead. He looked the cutest, with his grayish green eyes twinkling from the bright light that came from the restaurant.

"You're staring at me," he said looking at me.

"You look adorable, stay away from the ladies," I smiled at him.

He ignored my comment and looked ahead but I saw his cheeks turn slightest of pink.

I smiled and looked away.

We were finally inside the restaurant, and I looked around to spot Daniel sitting on a table for four, alone.

I took Devil's hand, he didn't put up a fight. I thought I was the only one nervous. We made our way to the table.

Seeing Daniel's face again made me want to punch my fist on something... Maybe his face. He stood there with a smile on his face as if everything was normal.

"Heather is coming," he smiled, "she is in the ladies room."

We didn't ask. I looked away from him and Devil seemed to be doing the same, ignoring him.

"So, how has my babies been," he asked as if he cared.

"Good," Devil and I said in unison.

"You guys missed your dad?" He grinned widely.

"We don't have a dad," I said returning his smile, but mine more twisted.

"Aaliyah... Don't ever say that again," he said, a hurt expression on his face.

Hurt my ass.

"I only speak the truth," I said.

I could see Devil was enjoying my comebacks because there was a slight smile playing on his lips as he sat next to me.

Just as he was about to say something, a lady wearing a red dress walked up to our table. She didn't look like a waitress.

Daniel put on a smile just as he saw her, "guys, meet Heather."

"Sup," Devil mumbled.

"Hi, Heather," I said, bitterness obvious in my voice.

She seemed to notice but she shook it off with a wide smile.

"Wow, they are beautiful, just like you said," she sweet talked, looking at us adoringly.

"Yeah, never believe anything he says," I let out a humorless chuckle.

"Lia, stop teasing your dad dear," he said.

Why was he talking in third person? Does he think that highly of himself?

"You wish I was teasing!" I said a little louder than I should have.

I came here because mom said to but I was not going to deal with him. He was a cheater!

"Stop it, Lia!" He said.

Heather was still trying to act nicely as a smile was playing on her lips.

"Daniel, don't push the kids," Heather said quietly.

I honestly felt bad for Heather, she might've not known what she was getting herself involved with.

"Listen, I don't know why I am here when I'm not even related to you," I snapped.

"The blood that runs in your veins is the same blood that runs in my veins," Daniel snapped back.
