Miranda's pov
I finally get back home. Chris, my boyfriend, is asleep in the chair in the living room. I bite my lip worriedly. I set my bag down and he wakes up. "Hey girl how was the concert." "Great, it was great." I say, shakily. I lay in his lap, my head on his chest. "I messed up Chris." I whisper, starting to cry. "What happened?" "I got drunk, bad drunk, and well I accidentally slept with the main singer of the concert last night. I gave him the third degree when I woke up the next morning." He's completely frozen. "Chris?" "Who is this fucker?" I bite my lip again. "His name's Jason. He was just as drunk as me. He didn't know what happened til the morning." He stands up and walks to the door. Crap! Chris is gonna go crazy. He walks back in the house, straight to me. "C-Chris?" I shakily whisper. He slaps me so hard in the face that my ear is ringing. Then he kisses me hard. "Don't you ever do that to me again." He says. I nod and rest my hands on his shoulders. "I'm so sorry." I whisper. We continue to make out, he backs me up against the wall. Maybe he won't go after Jason. He slips my jeans down and unbuckles his belt. "You're so damn sexy." He whispers, his hot breath on my neck. "I look so good for you and only for you baby." I whisper back.

Jason's pov
I stare at the lighter in my hand. Maybe I should return it to her. But she can just get a new one from the gas station. But this is hers! And I'm just thinking of a reason to go see her. "Well darlin' here I come."
Miranda's pov
I wipe the sweat off my forehead and work on the truck I'm under. A pair of boots steps into my vision. "I'll get to you in a minute sir." "Uh.... It's me darlin'." Crap. I scoot out from under the truck. I cross my arms. "What do you want?" I ask annoyed. "You uh forgot your lighter. And like I said, I didn't tell no one." I force a smile. "Thanks and I'm sorry Jason but I love Chris. I've been dating him for almost three years." "I know. I am so sorry I tricked you. After today, you'll never hear from me again." He looks so sad. I feel so bad. "Hey Jason, ya wanna try a best three out of four game of pool down at the pool hall when I get off?" His eyes go wide. "Really? You wanna hang with me?" I smile. "As friends. Nothing more." He nods. "I hope your boyfriend wasn't too mad." I rest a hand against my cheek that he slapped. "He was at first but....." I let my voice trail off. "See ya later?" He nods and smiles. "Can't wait darlin'."
*later*
I get to the pool hall and Jason was drinking bud light. I got a corona and walked over. "I'm gonna beat ya this time." He says, smiling. I roll my eyes. "In your dreams." He laughs. "Probably." He then shrugs and gets a pool stick. "Rack 'em up." I smile and break. A ball shoots too hard and flies off the table hitting Jason right in the manhood! Oh man! He drops the pool stick and doubles over. "Oh gosh! Jason! I'm so sorry! Are you okay!?" I cry, shakily. "Wow that hurt!" He gasps, trying to take a deep breath. "It's gonna take a second." He chokes out sitting down on the floor. "I am so sorry!" I gasp again. "Grab me my beer." I stand back up and hand it to him. I cross my arms over my chest, worriedly. "You're gonna be okay?" He smiles and nods. "Yeah.... Uh just knocked me off my step a little bit." He puts a hand on the wall and pulls himself up. "Ok no more pool. I'm just gonna sit down." We both find a table. "We need to talk about somethin'." He says. I drink my corona. "What about?" I ask. "That boyfriend of yours. He hit you." My eyes go wide. "I uh I'm not saying he did. But how would you have known?" He sighs and sits up, fully, wincing in pain. If I wasn't so worried, I'd have laughed. "When you put a hand to your cheek earlier. I know the signs when I see them darlin'." "How?" "Because I used to be like that. I was a violent alcoholic in my younger years. But we're not here to talk about my past that I've come to terms with. Your boyfriend is hitting you and I'm not gonna stand by and let that happen. I know you don't feel the same but I care about you." He rests a hand over mine. "You're wrong." I shakily say. "I'm not wrong. I know he's-" "No Jason you're wrong. I do feel the same." I lean over and kiss him. And I knew that it won't be just a kiss. My love affair all started with a beer and a rustic cowboy who cares about me.
