A Girl In An Auto Shop

Miranda's pov

I smilingly step onto the Kansas lodge for Buck Commander. Jason's nervous. He knows I'm gonna win and he doesn't wanna see his friend naked. "Take it easy baby." He says, his cheeks red. "Oh darlin' you should know I don't take it easy." I say, laughing. His face gets red. "You know it's embarassing when you call me darlin'." I nod and give him a that's the point look. "Aw my competition!" Willie says. I put my hands on my hips. "Get ready buddy. Just ask Jason, I've never lost anything in my life!" I say. Except my parents. I shake it off and turn back to the cowboy. "Well except my heart. Someone stole that." He smiles. "And I ain't ever givin' it back." He says, kissing me.

*later*

Jason's in the stand with me. He closes his eyes, his bow ready in his hand. "What are you doing?" I whisper. "Nothin'." I shrug and look out at the field. "Oh Jason look, a mean ol 12 point." I gasp in a whisper. He sits up. "You ready?" I nod and load my bow. It takes a few seconds for it to turn just the right way but I let my arrow fly. It hits right on target and stumbles in panic then collapses! "That's my girl!" Jason says, highfiving me. We get out and I go to the deer. "This thing is huge!" Jason says. I pose for the picture. After Jason takes it, he sends it to Willie.

Willie's pov

I get back to the lodge. I didn't get anything. I get a picture and my eyes go wide. Just then the two pull up. "Jason, who got that deer?" I shakily ask. He smiles and points to her! "I warned ya Willie. She can do anything a man can." Oh man, I may have some trouble. "And that was only in the first five minutes!" He says, laughing.

Jason's pov

Oh man, Willie is scared now. I pat his shoulder. "Good luck buddy." He's speechless. "I..... I.... Um..." I laugh a little and grab my girl. "Great hunt. Can't wait for tomorrow." "Tomorrow we're heading to Olla." Adam says, cleaning off his arrows. "Yeah. Olla kicks ass every year." I say, smiling.

*the next day*

We drive to Olla and she sleeps on my shoulder a little ways. She'll probably get several. "Ok you and Adam will be in the tree just south of my duck blind. Knock 'em dead baby." "Adam'll probably fall out of the tree in shock." She says. I smile.

Miranda's pov

Adam and I got to the pine tree and climb it. I stand on the platform, ready. "Willie is terrified." Adam says laughing. I smile. "He should be. Don't think just cause I'm a girl doesn't mean I can't beat a guy's ass in hunting." I load my bow when I see one stalk into my view. "Don't move." I whisper as he sits up to go for his bow. "I got this one." He chuckles softly. "Go for it princess." I spin on him. "Do not call me princess." I turn back around and load my bow. "Come on." I whisper. I let the arrow fly.

*later*

I stand confidently beside Adam's pick up. I nailed three deer. Adam got one. Willie, Jason, and Tombo get back. All three guys' jaws dropped. "B-But h-how?" I smile. "Ready to admit defeat, Willie?" I ask, taking a drag off my cigarette. His stare turns hard. "No. We still have all season! I'll catch up!" Jason laughs. "Dude, while ya still got dignity, give up. You haven't bagged shit and she's already got five!" He says, patting my shoulder and stealing my smoke. I glare at him jokingly as he puts it in his mouth. Willie is sweating. Adam and Tombo are laughing. Luke walks in sweaty and tired. "Hey man, you okay?" He shakes his head. "Chased by a mad buck for miles!" Jason hands him a bottle of water. He guzzled it down. Then he wipes the face paint off. I do the same. Jason finishes off my cigarette so I light another. "Hey I'm gonna turn in early. Gotta be ready for tomorrow." I say, smiling. "You aren't gonna win!" Willie calls as me and Jason walk to the lodge. When we get back, it's empty and Jason's laughing. "Damn you smoked that boy. He's never gonna forget this summer." I take my cigarette out of my mouth and rest my hands on Jason's shoulders. He stops laughing and stares at me wide eyed. "Kickin' butt and takin' names." I say, kissing him. His hands fly to my sides. We make out against the wall of the lodge. "Best tomboy ever." He whispers.
