The Hell of Titans.... What Did I Do To Deserve this? [SnK/AoT Fanfic]

*First person pov*

We tied up our horses and we were sitting in the trees, talking about something... but something was bothering me. I don't remember them bringing canons... even if they did, what were they going to use the canon's for? So, they must have known about the female titan... or maybe they've met her once before and came prepared? But how did they prepare it outside the walls? Well, they probably just used the same method that we're doing right now, having the guys stand on trees to lure titans while the others prepared the stuff.... but I don't know. Whatever they did, it's just best not to think too hard on it. I looked back to the others and ironically, they were discussing what I was thinking about. But, I didn't really want to join in, I got other things to think about.... by that I'm too lazy to join into the debate. I sighed and looked around my surroundings. But, something glimmered in the grass and caught my eye. I climb down the branch I was sitting on. "Hey! Where are you going?" Gunther asked me as I climbed down. "I thought I saw something... will you allow me to check it out sir?" I asked him as I remained hanging on the tree. "Well Erd? Is it okay for Basil?" Gunther asked Erd. "It's fine with me." Erd said before resuming the conversation with the others. I nod and climbed down the tree. My feet touched the ground as I jumped down. I walk around, the 3DMG clanging and bumping my legs as I move towards the direction I thought I saw the object. I get on my knees and searched through the grass, combing the sharp green grass with my fingers. I keep searching until my hand hit something hard... something rectangular. I pull it out the grass and I gasped when I identified it. The remote to the tv... what is it doing out here? I thought I left it outside Wall Maria... How did it get here? It was really dirty and moldy, not surprised since the elements might not been so kind to it. I wonder if it still works.... not! Haha, there's no way it could still work. But I might as well keep it with me... just as memory or something. I tuck it inside my jacket and got up, brushing the dust off my pants. Suddenly a roar pierced through the silent air. "GRAAAAAAAAAHH!!" I fell back on my butt, a tremor in the ground. A scream!? The Female Titan!? Damm you Ann- "BASIL GET UP HERE!" Erd yelled and I nodded shakily. I hooked onto the tree and reeled in. I landed on the tree but fell on my butt again, the tremor was huge and powerful. After the tremors were over, Eren hooked onto the branch I was on. "Hey Basil! Are you okay?" Eren asked as he put a hand on my shoulder. "Yeah... I'm fine." I said shakily as I stood up. But my knees were still shaking.... "Are you sure?" Eren asked worriedly. "Yes, I'm fine." I said, giving him a smile. No, I'm not.... I don't know if I'll be able to protect this squad from dying... I wish that she was on our side... Annie... "A flare!" Petra said, pointing to the sky. I looked up to see a blue flare. "It's over. Back to the horses! Prepare to retreat!" Gunther announced. "Since when were you in command...? I'm pretty sure Erd was..." I trailed off. "Whatever, let's just go and see what the bastard inside that thing looks like." Oulo said, standing up. Eren taps his gas tanks to see what was left while Petra adjusts her tanks. "Will we really find out who it is?" Eren asked Petra. "All thanks to you." Petra said, smiling. "I didn't really do anything..." Eren said, turning to Petra. "You had faith in us. This is the result of your choice to believe in us back then. Making the right choice isn't easy." Petra said, still smiling. "Hey, don't pamper him Petra... What did he even do anyways? He was pathetic. He just kept whining." Oulo said and I scoffed. "And you were just a asshole who doesn't know how to shut up." I whispered to myself and he glared at me. "Anyways, coming back alive from your first excursion is a pretty good start. But it still doesn't count until the mission's over. Listen up kiddos! The expedition lasts until you're at home in bed." Oulo said, lecturing us. "Jeez, we know that." Eren answered. Oulo, Gunther, and Erd turned and hooked away from us with their 3DMG. We followed behind them. "Oulo! Petra! You guys pissed your pants and cried on your first mission! You're all grown up!" Erd yelled back smiling. I snorted and Petra screamed in horror. "Don't say that! What if they stop respecting me, Erd!?" Petra yelled. "It really happened?" Eren asked. "Sure did." Erd answered. "And for the record, I didn't, Eren, Basil." Erd said and I rolled my eyes, I'm pretty sure he did. "Idiot! I killed more of them than you! I've got more kills, stupid!" Oulo yelled. "What's that got to do with anything? We're just bracing the fact that you've pissed yourselves." I said, shrugging. "Shut up!" Oulo hissed at me. "Your kill count isn't what makes a soldier." Erd said. "Shut up idiot!" Oulo yelled. "Petra, does that mean you sprayed it everywhere in mid air?" Eren asked innocently. "Idiot! You don't ask that kind of question to a lady!" I yelled at Eren. "Shut up! Do you think you're on a picnic?! We're outside the walls! I didn't piss my pants either, Eren, Basil." I laughed, Gunther had the gall to say that afterwards. I see something light up the sky, a flare. A green one at that. "Oh, that must be the signal from Captain Levi. We'll rendezvous with Captain! Cut the chatter until we get back." Gunther said as he landed on a tree branch and fired at green flare in response. I gripped my blades. This is where she comes in... I hope I can save at least most of my squad members.
