Two Trials One Breakdown

"Well open it already, it's supposed to give a hint to the second test." Ron prompted. Harry turned the dial to open the top and instantly closed it again when a horrific wail pierced the air.

It had been three days since he'd tried opening the egg. He was sitting under a willow, one that didn't womp, outside the Quidditch field just staring at the egg. He was a bit startled when Cedric landed beside him, he'd jumped the wall, and sat down. "Any luck with the egg?" Harry asked.

"Yeah, that's why I've been looking for you. Since you helped me with the first challenge." Cedric said with a smile. "Take a bath."

"... Okay..."

"You'll work it out." He said with a grin. "That's half the fun."

"How it going with your intended." Harry asked looking for a pleasant conversation.

"Hmm. She ran off with one of the Durmstrang boys." Cedric sighed.

"Ah, tough luck ey." Harry mumbled.

"Mm, I heard you got yourself a sweetheart of a sub. Is it true your a dual?"

"Yeah." Harry poked the egg. "I started falling for Luna before I even knew I was a Dual."

"That must have been distressing."

"Mm, I had other more pressing matters on my mind. Like how my name ended up in that cup." Harry sighed tensing. Cedric hummed lightly, the sound sent a warmth down Harry's spine. "Where's your guard? Are you gonna be okay without one?"

"Eames is in the room behind us discussing the second challenge. He's pissed about something. And I can look after myself."

"True, I was able to watch you take on the Horntail. It was something else." Cedric said. He then grinned and nudged Harry's side. "I might be falling for you." Harry snorted and threw a few blades of grass at him.

"Hitting on a sub without their guard, I'm appalled Mr Diggory." He teased. The two of them laughed for a while and then there was silence, a heaviness set in Harry's chest and his smile fell.

"What's wrong?" Cedric asked noticing the mood switch.

"I'm gonna get myself killed one day." Harry huffed.

"Don't talk like that, Kitten." Harry ignored the nickname.

"Seriously, the stone the first year, the chamber the second, the whole dementor junk last year and now this."

"Well sure you get into dangerous situations but you always pull through. It's a trait of yours I really admire." Cedric pulled Harry closer to comfort him, Harry stiffened for a moment and then relaxed.

"Careful Mr Diggory, I may get the wrong idea." He said, Cedric chuckled.

"I should get going, but don't talk about death, it's such a somber topic for someone with such a bright future." He said. "Seriously, take a bath with the egg." Cedric walked away and Harry felt as though all the warmth left. Harry's eyes widened as he realised what was happening. He sighed and looked at the egg distracting his confused thoughts.

"Time for a bath I guess."

Chapter Two
Courting

Most inherited have only two kinds of inheritance, Dominant and Submissive. With Wind Cat's there are three different kinds, the afore mentioned two and a dual, Dual's are also found in and Veela society. Dual's have powerful magic that a single mate is unable to stabilise. Dual's are advised to have a Submissive mate and a Dominant mate. Which makes it that Dual's are fertile in both aspects. Dominants can't bear children but can impregnate where as Submissive can bear children but not impregnate. Dual's are capable of both and unlike dominant/sub relationships the dual is often the one in charge. They have the Brains and Bite of a sub and the Brute and Brawn of a Dom.
