Harry watched the potions master go seeing the man in a new light. As the door clicked shut Harry sat before the fire and stared at the pendant.

It was still another week till Harry felt up to venturing out of his apartment. He kept the pendant on, it was safely tucked away under his shirt. Eames had been snoozing against a statue when Harry had poked the man's side. "Harry?" He said sleepily, then his eyes snapped open and he grabbed the boy's shoulders. "Harry!" He looked absolutely delighted to see his charge out and about again.

"I'm going to the field. I know it's not outside the sanctuary but perhaps you'd like to accompany me?" Harry said meekly. Eames nodded and walked beside the boy, he was smaller and paler than Eames remembered but from what he'd heard from Tippy about his eating and sleeping habits this seemed about right. Harry was bombarded by his friends all of them glad to see him at last. Luna stood back and waited patiently as they did and when they finally dispersed she walked over and kissed him.

"I'm glad to see your feeling better." She said.

"I'm not actually, I feel just as bad as yesterday." Harry said bluntly. "But I think I'll fair better seeing you all again."

"Well, as long as you're here." She said smiling softly. For the week Harry did all sorts of things. Knitting with Hannah and Hermione, painting with Draco, a game of friendly Quidditch with Colin, Ron and Shamus, swimming at the lake with Blaise and Daphne and many nights by the fire with Luna. None of them suspected anything was odd, no one noticed he'd backed a bag of essentials and written a letter. On the Sunday night he called for Luna to come to his apartment as he had every other night, they sat by the fire, simply happy to be in each other's presence. And then Harry told her what he needed to do.

"I've been speaking to Rowena Ravenclaw's portrait about what I am as I've told you. But now she asks me to go to the island the Wind Cat's reside to learn the rest. With all that's gone on I need to get away from this place and I refuse to go back to the Dursley's. I can't ask you to come with me, it's not fair on you or your father. But this is something I have to do." He said. Luna was silent for a long time.

"When do you leave?" She asked.

"Tonight, before I change my mind. Luna, it's a lot to ask but will you wait for me?" He gazed into her eyes that now sparkled with tears and felt his stomach tie in knots.

"I don't want you to go, but I know you must. Therefore I will wait for you, however long it takes. In return you must write to me as often as possible, and return home as soon as you can." She said. He promised her this and more. "You're not telling the others?"

"I can't. Seeing you so down is already making it hard enough. I want you to give them this letter tomorrow. I'm going to be meeting Rowena at midnight and after that I'm off. The only others who know are Snape and Eames. Look after the pride while I'm gone."

Luna snuggled against Harry during the few hours they had left and then she left to let Harry prepare.

Rowena spotted Harry five minutes early as usual. She figured he might be late saying goodbye to his intended but the boy was as punctual as ever, certainly a level of maturity she hadn't pegged the boy for having. She'd heard about the death of the dominant who'd wanted to court him. She heard of Harry's depressed state but all she saw in the skinny boy was determination to finish his study of his people. With half a year gone by Harry had half a year minimum to spend on the island.

"How will I know where to go?" He asked after she'd made sure his provisions were right.

"You won't, but you're not going alone." She mused. The door to the room of requirement opened and Theodor Nott stepped in. "He is going to take you."
