Chapter Twenty One

Start from the beginning

"Hm..?" You looked up at Hailey, her face flushed red.

"Get to the club. I- We need to show you something. Come on." She muttered and pushed you along. With her presence, it seemed as if the constant remarks had stopped. It didn't take long until Hailey had brought you to the building. Quickly, you made your way inside, getting a couple of odd glances from other people but for the most part, it was normal...kinda.

"What's happening? Why am I being treated like this?" You finally found your voice to speak as she pulled you into your guy's work room. Brandon was already inside, listening to the news channel on the TV.

"Just in time you guys." He muttered and pushed in his glasses. You stole a glance at Hailey, who gestured you over to the screen. The screen showed a woman reporting about some magic incident from the night before. To your horror, you saw Sans and Frisk, and then yourself. There were two 'witnesses' which happened to be the two men that attacked you the night before. They were patched up with thick bandages and casts.

"And what were you saying about this girl?" The woman on the screen pointed to your picture and was interviewing the two men. The one with brown hair shook a bit, as if terrified to even say a word.

"She's a dirty liar. She led the both of us into a dark alley, pretending to be deeply concerned as we approached this 'wounded' skeleton and a young girl. Suddenly, three monsters just jumped out at us! We were lucky to even escape." The one with black hair spat, glaring at the camera. It was as if he knew that you would be watching.

"That's a load of bull-" You mumbled as you approached the screen and shut off the channel. Turning to your teammates, you found their expressions hard with disappointment.

"So? Why exactly did you leave yesterday?" Brandon asked sternly. Hailey stayed silent as they waited for a response. You froze up, trying to decide what to say. This entire situation was complex enough, but the real question was if they should know about the truth.

"And that eye patch...It's not looking too good for you, (y/n)." Brandon pressed on, trying for an explanation. You didn't know what to say. If you told them who- what you really were, what would they do?

"The real question is if you would believe me." You blurted, buying for time. The only decision you could choose was telling them the same story you told the other monsters. Disgust captured the expressions of the other two.

"Sounds like something a guilty person would say." Hailey grumbled and crossed her arms. Annoyance was starting to bite at you.

"Look." You took a deep breathe and glanced at the two. With tumbling words, you explained what had happened and how Frisk was kidnapped. The only thing you didn't say was that the two men and yourself had used magic...and Sans saved you and Frisk. To explain the eye patch, you said you got injured. When you finished, the two's faces were fixed with consideration. There was a long silence and nothing stirred.

Brandon finally grumbled a bit and faced you. "Get home. We'll need to talk about this to the board. We should have our decision by this weekend."

"O-okay." You stuttered and scrambled out of the room. You don't know why you left so quickly, but you knew you had to get home as soon as possible. Everyone looked at you, like you were a different person. Even as you raced out of the treacherous building, you can overhear light, disturbing conversations.

"(Y/n)? I heard she's fake. Really...fake."

"Only a mask. I knew there was something odd about her."

"No wonder her mother left her."

Shaking off these remarks, you made your way home.

"Fu-"

"HUMAN!" Papyrus cried out happily and started to approach you as you walked into the house.

"What?" You snapped at him, with annoyance growing in your stomach. Everything was falling apart and you did not need to deal with Pap's crap right now.

"UH- WELL..." He seemed lost for words as he cowered away from your tone. He spent a couple seconds trying to evaluate any wrong doings that he may have done, but truth be told, he's never seen you like this. With an irritated sigh, you tossed your backpack next to the couch and slouched into the loose fabric. With the blanket, you muffled your screaming self. It seemed as if you were breaking from the inside out. You already felt like you lost your mind and everyone was suffering because of you.

"HUMAN? ARE YOU OKAY?"

You threw off the blanket and let out an exasperated chuckle.

"I'm totally fine! Everything is just great! I probably just got kick out of the FMC and became the school's next biggest 'loser'. And now that I think about it, my parents are no longer together. They're getting divorced!" You smiled sarcastically and screamed into your pillow.

"THAT DOESN'T SOUND OKAY-"

"EXACTLY, PAPYRUS!" You snapped at him again. "NOTHING IS OKAY!"

You whined to yourself, hiding your face in your pillow. Gosh, I'm such an ass. Go apologize...

After a short bit, you took a deep breath and you shook your head in shame.

"Sorry, Pap." You mumbled and looked up, expecting to see Papyrus still standing there.

"There's no need to say sorry, kid." Sans muttered with a small smile. He had a new white t-shirt on, but you could tell he was still heavily bandaged. It made you feel bad for bringing him all the way down the stairs just to talk you. He sat himself next to you and looked at you. "Need to talk?"
