"Oh, stop it you three," Mirima said, rolled her eyes, crossed her arms over her chest and pouted a bit. Míriel could see that her friend was still thinking about the Dwarf, though, because her eyes almost longed back to where they had been in the dining room. "But you must admit that he was not that bad looking, was he? If he was just a little taller then perhaps..."
"No, you would never," Alya said and shook her head with a chuckle, like the thought of it was just ridiculous. "I say we just go to our chambers to rest and hope that they will be gone by the morning."
Mirima and Adanessa nodded but seemed a little disappointed since deep down they had enjoyed their new guests and what they brought. Míriel knew she could not go to rest until the Dwarves had some proper food, though, and decided to not let her friends know about her plans. They would not approve and Míriel could not be bothered to explain her reasons to them.
"I need to speak to Elrond first," Míriel lied and smiled at her friends. "I will see you in the morning, rest well."
The Elf-maidens nodded and waved toward her as a good night. Míriel waited until they had gone before she turned around and walked back. She hurried down to where all the food was kept in the cellars and grabbed a large box which she filled with meat and wine. She figured that Dwarves would eat the same as Men did, so that was what she grabbed. Míriel held her hand out toward the box and soon it began to levitate; her powers were very practical in these situations. The box then followed her loyally as she went.
It was not hard to find the Dwarves again for they had lit a fire outside to barbeque their vegetables and they were very loud. When Míriel walked toward their noise, she could see all her fellow Elves whispering and rolling their eyes at the Dwarves. Míriel ignored the Elves and soon arrived not far away from where the Dwarves sat. She could hear them laugh and sing together and she liked the connection they seemed to have with each other. It was a familiar kind of company; she could see that they all knew each other well.
Míriel walked toward them carefully, caught the eye of Fíli who smiled and waved her over.
"Hello, my lady!"
"Hello Fíli," Míriel said and smiled. The other Dwarves looked at her, most of them smiled, only a few seemed bothered. Míriel had grabbed the box from the air a while ago so she wouldn't scare the Dwarves and now she put it down in front of them. "I thought you might be hungry since you threw most of the food away at dinner." They laughed quietly and started emptying the box quickly, beaming fondly at the meat inside it. "We have Men as guests sometimes, so I know where their food is being kept. I am sure we will not miss it."
"Thank you so much, my lady," said Bofur, the one with the crazy hat and dark brown hair who had sung before. "Nice to know that one of you at least has some taste and manners. You're sure welcome to stay and eat with us. You can't be full after eating leaves for dinner."
Míriel chuckled at this comment as the Dwarves were not the ones who should talk about manners, but soon decided not to say anything to anger them. Míriel watched them cook the meat, grilling the sausages over the fire and decided to accept the offer to stay with them. Perhaps they would open up to the Elf-maiden while they were eating.
"Thank you," Míriel said with a smile and took a seat on the floor with them. She quickly noticed that two of the Dwarves were missing; Thorin Oakenshield, Balin and the Hobbit Bilbo were not there. "Where are Thorin, Balin and Bilbo Baggins?"
"Talking to Lord Elrond," Dwalin said and sounded a little bitter. "But it's none of your business about what."
Dwalin was probably the tallest of all the Dwarves and the strongest built as well. He had tattoos over his face and scars all over his arms. His head was almost bald, and his beard wasn't as long as some of the others'. He looked quite dangerous, and Míriel would not have wanted to brawl with someone like him. That was why, when he answered her so harshly, she decided that it was not the right approach to be so curious.
