Freshman year was also the time where I really looked at my book at a professional level. Where is it going to go? How is the middle of the book going to play out? Honestly, my freshman year self, if you know my book well, never thought about what would happen after chapter eight. I honestly don't know how I possibly got to chapter fourteen either. I'm at the moment still stuck on where it should go now. But my freshman year was basically the time of going back to the original chapters and adding, proofing, and trying to connect everything together. Along with my blue notebook, I started a green notebook in freshman year that has everything that I need to remember so I'm not all over the place with the information. The notebook started out as something that I could use to begin writing in Angelic Writing, an alphabet that I wrote for the book. Now in the notebook, I have the names of the characters, the sections of Darkani, school system, population, Angelic Writing Alphabet, Blessings information, and other top secret things for the future chapters. So originally, the beginning chapters were about two thousand words each. After editing, each chapter is between 3500 to 4000 words. I don't know how many chapters I want to do. Maybe about thirty-five chapters, even though I was only wanting to do twenty-four. My book at the moment is what I call an organized mess (wink wink to the TOSM fans).
I also started to do this weird thing in freshman year that might now be a habit. I started imagining myself as the main character in my book. What would she think about in this situation? What would she think about seeing things for the first time? Who is she really? I would just be walking the hallways in school, thinking like my character, sometimes even acting like her. I remember one time in Literature, I was looking out the window across the side street of my school to this daycare. This was fifth period and most days around this time, the kids from the daycare would come out to play at the fenced in playground they had. I was watching them like I normally do and then one child caught my eye and this memory has been etched into my head. I think I made myself memorize it for my book. It was a little girl around five years old. She had wavy dirty blond or light brown hair. She was playing with the other kids but then sometimes she would go to a part of the park where no one else was. My only thought was while observing this was she's acting like Bella would. In my own head, the girl was looking at her surroundings, looking at every detail that she could possibly find, thinking to herself. Of course, she was probably doing something else, but this moment just strengthens the fact that my book has seeped into the simplest of things, like watching kids play at the park.
My freshman year was pretty sucky in terms of my grades, but I met a lot of friends, which was the main reason I went to private school. Some of those friends I met through writing. One of my friends actually is pretty successful on 抖阴社区 because she always updates, which is my ultimate weakness. I started creating my own book covers for my stories and I created one of her book covers as well. 抖阴社区 really allows me to make bonds with people I would have never met on my own. It also allows me to get my work out there. And it's also surprising how many of your friends actually have a 抖阴社区 when you tell them you have one.
I also realized that people have become successful writers off of 抖阴社区, like Erin Latimer, the author of the Jontun Chronicles. She recently got her first book published and my sister thinks that Erin Latimer is her "internet buddy" or something like that because she won a couple giveaways from Latimer. But Erin Latimer showed me that starting on 抖阴社区 can get you somewhere so I'm trusting my gut and putting as much effort as I possibly can into finishing my book. If anything, there are books an 抖阴社区 that have gotten international recognition which would be amazing to see in my writing. But you have to start from the bottom and make your way to that level. I'm still climbing, but the journey has been an amazing experience so far.
The summer after freshman year was very busy for me personally so I don't remember what writing I did over the summer. The summer was soon over and I became a Sophomore. My parents expected a lot more from me this year and honestly, I expected a lot more from myself as well. I wanted to personally do better that year than I did my first year to show my parents that I really did deserve to go to that school. It was the first day of classes and I didn't know who my English teacher was. I had never heard of him from anyone so I assumed that it was his first year. My last English teacher was a newbie too, so I wasn't hopeful. But anyone could be better than him. The bell rings and this very tall man walks through the door. This must be my English teacher. And then he started talking to us. He had this awesome vibe about him and he was so jumpy and bubbly. You would think it was a child inside of this basketball player body. I couldn't have been any more fortunate to get put with this teacher. He was a new basketball coach as well. You would have believed that first before English teacher any day of the year. But he was so passionate about his job and making sure that the year was the best year ever. And it was.
