"Where is he?" She picked up his small launcher he had dropped. "Where is he?!" (y/n) pointed the launcher up at the guard. The guard waved his hand, voice muffled. (y/n) stayed poised in her form for a moment, then dropped the launcher. I saw her lips move, saying something else.
"Who is she looking for?" I asked, looking to the woman.
"You." I turned back to look at (y/n) as the guard fell to the table, then lay still as the other guard did.
"Why would she-" I trailed off, then hit on the glass. (y/n) turned in her spot, coming to the window. She stared at me, confused for a moment. I saw a ripple move across the surface of the window, then (y/n)'s face brightened. She placed her hand against the window. I placed a hand over hers.
"I told you, Newt. Trust her. Trust us."

I opened my eyes, quickly sitting up and sucking in a deep breath. It was still dark out.
"You're awake." Someone said. I looked over, seeing (y/n) at the base of one of the trees that held my hammock.
"So are you." (y/n) shrugged.
"You were murmuring in your sleep. I couldn't tell if you were having a nightmare or not." (y/n) was looking out in front of her at the rest of the Glade. I swallowed.
"I'm not sure either." (y/n) looked at me, a soft smile on her face.
"Come on. I'm going to show you something." I stood from my hammock as (y/n) stood from her place under the tree. She began to lead me across the Glade to near one of the doors.
"Why are we going to one of the doors?" I whispered. Beyond the wall, something screeched.
"As more people come up, we haven't been sure how many will come, how long we'll be here. Alby decided we should find a way to memorialize we were here, in case any of us..." (y/n) trailed off as we came to a wall. In the faint light, I could see some of the names etched in the stone.
"You carve your names in stone." (y/n) nodded, picking up a knife left by the wall side.
"It's your turn. It takes some time, but every Greenie does it. Means we're family." I held the knife for a moment, turned it in my hand. (y/n) bent down to pick up a small stone.
"See, you do it like this." She gently took my hand that held the knife and put it against the wall. She placed the stone in my other hand. Her hand took mine as she gently pulled it back, then pushed it forward so the stone hit the knife.
"You do that, but harder so it actually makes a mark. It takes less time than just scratching stone with a knife. " I huffed a laugh as she let go of me, stepping back. I lifted the stone back, then slammed it forward, hitting the handle of the knife.
~
I got halfway through the 'w' of my name when (y/n) spoke up.
"You asked me if I got nightmares often." Her voice was soft. I paused, stone against the knife handle.
"You don't have to talk about it."
"I might as well. You'll learn one way or another, either from Ben or Minho." She looked at me, watching as I hit the stone against the knife again.
"My first month here, I got nightmares all the time. Almost every night. Some dreams I remembered, some I didn't." I hit the knife again, looking to (y/n).
"What were the ones you remembered?" (y/n) shrugged.
"Maybe something a little like what you dreamed tonight. Snippets of before... this."
"How... how would you know what I dreamt?" (y/n) looked at me, I gave her a side glance, hitting the knife to finish off my 'w'.
"I'm not daft, Newt. I've dreamed enough about my past to know when others have. There's a... look." I swallowed, keeping silent. "And you were talking about me, saying to let me go. I don't think there is something in the Glade that you would see as a threat to me as of now." I shrugged, starting the 't' of my name.
"Maybe I was dreaming of what is behind those walls." (y/n) scoffed.
"Is that a question or a statement?" I kept quiet for a moment.
"Maybe both." (y/n) stood, coming to my side.
"Maybe, maybe not. All I know is, whatever your dreams were, I've had the other point of view. We knew each other before being here, and you know it." (y/n)'s voice was stern, but soft.
"Do the others... do they have dreams too?" (y/n) shook her head.
"I don't think they're meant to. Maybe we aren't meant to, but we do." I kept quiet, hitting again and again at the knife until my name was finished. (y/n) stood at my side, watching. When I finished, she gently took the stone and knife away from me, placing them where she had found them. She ran a quick finger over each of the letters I had just carved.
"We should get you back to bed." I nodded and (y/n) quietly led me to the hammocks.
"I won't talk about your dreams." I whispered to her. She hummed, nodding.
"I know. I trust you." I lay in my hammock as (y/n) went to hers. My hands ached as I lay them at my sides. (y/n) didn't say another word, and neither did I.
