The two had soon been picked up by chief Bogo, who suggested they be more careful in future. Now Nick was at the police station with Judy. Bogo has ordered them to get a medical check so they were about to take a new vehicle there. The last one was now being used as evidence. "You can borrow this one but for now you will have to share with Officer Hopps. Sorry Wilde, got none to spare right now" the buffalo chief explained. Nick felt slightly disappointed. The two always rode together in one vehicle but Nick liked to have his own car for outside of work. Judy looked thoughtful. "Its okay Nick, I can get up a bit earlier and pick you up for work" she offered kindly. Nick flicked his ear in acknowledgment, "Thanks Carrots." Bogo dismissed them but not before asking them in a sarcastic tone, to try not to wreck this car, and Judy quickly took the drivers seat of their borrowed vehicle and headed off for the medical check. They were both soon cleared. Luckily neither of them had suffered a concussion but were told to take a days rest and let them know if they started to feel ill or the pain got any worse. Now, as they were walking back to the car, Nick had an idea. He stopped before opening the door. "Hey Carrots, how about I take you out for dinner tomorrow night at they fancy restaurant I was talking about? I think we deserve a break" He offered hopefully. The bunny thought for a moment. "That would be nice, Nick. I'd like that" she smiled eagerly.
Nick had slept through half the next day before he finally rose from his slumber. His head injury must have made him extra tired. Although as soon as he woke up, excitement fizzed through his body, for tonight he would take Judy out for dinner and he knew she would love it. It would be nice for them to finally relax and have a fun night out. Nick didn't feel hungry as he walked past the kitchen and into the lounge room, so he decided to save him appetite for dinner and hoped Judy would do the same. The red fox flicked on the television. He flicked through until he found a channel he usually liked to watch. Instantly a commercial popped up. It was for a movie that was showing for the first time in cinemas tonight. Nick quickly looked it up on his phone. The movie looked good. It was showing an hour and a half before he and Judy were booked in for dinner. The cinemas weren't too far from the restaurant either. Wagging his tail, he called Judy. She answered with a tired "hello". She had clearly been resting the day away as well. "Hey there Carrots, you busy at 5:00?" Nick asked her causally, although he was tapping his nails on the coffee table in anticipation, betraying his excitement. "An no, why?" Nick's ears perked up and he grinned. "Great! Well would you like to see a movie with me before dinner?" He pressed. He heard Judy yawn. "You know what, Nick, I may just have to cancel the whole thing. I am not feeling so great suddenly" the bunny answered. Nick felt his tail drop and his ears droop. "What! Oh. O-okay then, if you don't-" He was cut off by a snort from the other end of the phone. "Gee Nick, you have lost your touch. Gosh you are so gullible! I'm kidding, of course I'd like to come with you! Which movie are we seeing?" Judy spoke excitedly. Nick smirked and shook his head. "Sly bunny, I'll get you for that" Nick warned narrowing his eyes playfully. He heard Judy giggle. "Dumb fox! I will watch my back from now on then. Anyway which movie!?" She pressed eagerly. Nick heard a small this on the other end of the line and he imagined her preforming a little hop of excitement. He smiled at the image in his head. "Ah but its a surprise!" He teased. Judy thumped her foot on the floor before replying, " Well it better not be something corny, or a horror!" The fox grinned. "I assure you, you'll love it! I will pick you up at five." Nick went to hang up but Judy kept speaking, "Well now I know Im going to hate it!" She joked before continuing on, "Wait, how are you going to pick me up?" "See ya then Carrots!" "Nick! Oh! Pfft, see you." He hung up and cracked his knuckles. Tonight would be great!
Nick had spent the rest of the day getting ready. He had had quite a lot of trouble deciding what to wear but he had finally decided on some blue jeans and a black top with a leather jacket to top it off. He had his sunglasses propped up on his head. The fix looked in the mirror, brushed a piece of loose fur back and left the house with his walls and phone. He tucked them in his pocket before waiting outside for the arrival of Finnick. Earlier on, the fennec fox had begrudgingly agreed for him to borrow his van for the night, so long as Nick let him stay at his place until he was finished with it. Now Finnick came tumbling down the driveway in his van. He stepped out and pulled up his shades. "Take care of her Nick" he said gruffly. Nick waved a paw, "Yeah, yeah, it'll be fine." Finnick then looked him up and down, raised an eyebrow and whistled. "Who you lookin' good for?" He asked jokingly. "Not that bunny, I hope?" He mocked. Nick glared at him. "We are just taking a break from work to do something fun. Carrots is glued to the job" he explained. "Whatever you say" Finnick spoke in a deep, disbelieving tone. Nick rolled his eyes. "So are you gonna give me your wheels or are we just gonna stand here all day?" Nick asked dryly, with a paw placed on his hip. Finnick smirked and threw Nick the keys before strolling up to the door of Nick's apartment and turned the knob. "Have fun on your date!" Finnick cackled over his shoulder before stepping into the apartment and making himself at home. Nick shook his head and hopped into the van.
