Chapter 14-1

'I'm not going to give up so easily!' you were obstinate and got your black notebook to widen your research. You read through your notes about Kira, then tried typing 'Inhuman killing skills' in the search bar, but most results were related to reporter writing about the mysterious Kira!

After 4 hours of research, scanning pages full of text, your eyes got tired and your mind stopped focusing with what you were reading. You knew, that you had to stop, since it made no sense to continue.
You needed a break.
You closed your computer and stood up. 'I should go to the old libraries and check what they have to offer. That's Japan after all. They came up with Shinigami's, so there must have some old books about them!' you decided. "But not today." you said to yourself and looked at the clock which showed 7:48 pm.

After getting up from your desk, you went to the kitchen and made a hot chocolate with coffee. You also took a doughnut from the fridge and put it on a plate.
"Kira appeared in Japan first. Started to kill criminals in Japan first. If I was in his shoes, I'd start with my own country first, because it means more to me than the rest of the world. L proved that Kira was here. And that he was a human. A student probably..." you thought.
When the hot chocolate was done, you took it together with the plate, that was carrying the doughnut and went to your balcony.
There was a breeze wind.
Cool rather than warm.
The sun was not down yet.
The clouds on the sky mixed with the colours the sun.
It was a beautiful and calm view.
And out there, right now, there was a human being planning more kills. Japans police, agents and detectives were racking their brains about the case, that this human being had started.
A crime case.
They are trying to find out how he is committing his crimes and what he might do next. He is around them, but no one knows the identity of this mysterious person.
Everyone is looking at the case in the same way. A person committing a crime.
A mass murderer.
A brilliant one.

"Lets take that as a trick show. Kira is the magician. In front of him there is his audience, the investigators. They are all seeing what Kira wants to show them, and only what he wants them to see. There are a few people going around the magician to check whether he is doing some hidden tricks or not. They want to see through him. But only a few. The magician knows they are watching him from the side and from the back and he still does his tricks. So what if there was a hidden camera? The magician has no clue, that it is there to catch him. What if more people go around him and stand around him from all sides, so that he has difficulties in tricking everyone at the same time?" you thought and took a bite of the doughnut, that was filled with vanilla creme. As you let the taste of the cream spread on your tongue, you continued with your thoughts. "I need to be the person looking from a complete different perspective to uncover the truth. I also need to be the hidden camera, that watches him without him knowing. Most detectives -if not all of them- would say there is nothing. They would all look from the same perspective. The perspective that Kira wants the case to be seen from. Everyone knows how this goes." you sighed. "Anyways, I originally wanted to find out how Kira kills and not find him in person. That's different from the rest, I guess. And I need to see through his difficult trick, which will be a challenge." you took another bite of the doughnut. "I still believe that it's possible for me and once I find out his secret it will be easy to catch him in person. I need to know the tricks that he is playing with. That's what I am truly interested in..." you were quite annoyed about the case being soo complicated like a labyrinth, that you kept getting lost at after each turn. You knew there was an easy and clear explanation for it, but it takes a lot of hard work and time to find it. And you were very far away from reaching it.

You leaned back on the chair in our balcony and closed your eyes. What you were doing now was overthinking everything. "Overthink is the wrong word..." you thought as you put an end to every thought in your mind, that was related to the Kira case and thought back to the moment where you found out about it. In your mind you were flying fast over your thoughts and looking at them without seeing them clearly. You wanted a short summary of how things were going from the beginning until now. At some point, the last meeting with Hideki seemed important to you. You looked closer at it and remembered what you talked about. Beside the fact, that you and Hideki would work together and share Information, which would help both of you, you thought about Kira's last deeds. It might have been a fake from Hideki to check your reaction in case of him thinking that you were Kira. But since you weren't Kira, you had nothing to worry about.

"The letters, that the criminals wrote before they died..." you thought. "One could tell that they were afraid of Kira. And wrote those letters just before they died. But that's not the interesting part", you thought. "It can't be a coincidence, that each of them wrote such a letter before they died with a hidden message in the first line that forms a sentence."

In the old Japanese cultures, Shinigami's were death gods that invited humans toward death. There weren't enough information about how they used to kill humans or any other interesting stories that might explain how the existence of them came to life. People didn't note down much about Shinigami's for some reason, but Kira certainly does have something in common with a Shinigami in order to mention their favorite food in a hidden message to L. Maybe he did write this message because he sees himself as a death god that no one in the world knows about. A mysterious god. "Either it was a stupid non-sense joke or something, that makes sense, but even L wouldn't come to it's actual idea." you thought and couldn't get rid of the thought, that Kira mentioned Shinigami's for a specific reason. But you couldn't know what reason this was because of the lack of Information you had.
