At this point in my relationship with Zoë, I guess I’m seriously not overthinking anymore. That is why I don’t purposely stop to do so since it’s more of a waste of time than of benefit. I mean, right now, I’m not even judging myself for feeling like her nervous breaths were exciting… it filled me with some kind of energy that made me want to pull her even closer.
Oh, God… I want her so much…
Wait… but why?
“You played well tonight…” Zoë said kissing me softly.
I kissed her again when she pulled back which somehow meant I was saying ‘thanks’. “You conducted us well too.”
She kissed me again, and then started hugging me, fitting her chin right at the junction between my shoulder and neck….
We were silent for a few seconds as we felt each other’s warmth… This is so cheesy… Ahhh~~ but I can’t help it.
“Hey, Alex?” Zoë suddenly asked sounding a little like a small child. Her arms held me warmly against her body, almost as if she were afraid I would die in any instant. “Isn’t it weird to you that I love you so much and it’s been such a short time?”
I’m not entirely sure why… but I felt like kissing Zoë’s neck. Lightly, as if to calm her down.
“I do think it’s weird.” I confessed, “I think I say that same thing back to you too.”
Zoë pressed against my body a little harder, “Yeah…”
Suddenly, we heard a crash inside the house, and it wasn’t a normal one. It was one of those where you hear the thump and then the crashing of ceramic and glasses.
I pulled away. “What was that?”
“Let’s go.” Zoë said raising herself and pulling my hand. “I have a bad feeling about this…”
Me too.
Man, such a shame though, just now I was enjoying my time over here… Yet I feel like my intuition was in tune with hers.
We walked through the wet garden down towards the glass sliding doors to see that those at the distance, a group had assembled in a circle almost as if watching but not daring to do anything.
Oh… shit. It’s a fight? Or something along those lines?
Then that’s when I heard it, I kind of constrained groan.
When the musicians saw us come in, they made a passage through them and Jessica’s back was to us, and Heather was facing our way. They were both looking down, to the floor where Simone was. She was sprawled on it, her body moving strongly.
She was convulsing.
And luckily none of the stuff that had broken was under her body, they were off to one side...
Zoë acted swiftly but calmly, like she always does. “Guys, move away. Seriously, I only want Jessica, Heather and Alex here. Plus Matt and Craig.”
Apparently, Zoë’s words were law here because immediately everyone dispersed. Some went upstairs, others left to the garden and a few more just went towards the other side of the living room.
“She just fainted,” Heather said, “She’s breathing but not responding.”
I looked down at Simone and saw her eyes closed. Strange not to see those green irises…
Is it hard to believe me when I say that I’ve been faced with a similar condition before?
I kneeled down, next to Simone’s head. I put my hand on her chest to see if she was truly breathing… whether it was strong or not. Luckily it was even and strong, probably her sugar levels have gone down or something.
“Get some alcohol,” I said but then I realized that Zoë had said it too.
I glanced at Zoë as she glanced to me. It’s strange but I guess that was enough. She knew something I didn’t but that didn’t matter for now.
Lately, things have been going by so quickly that I haven’t had time to reflect on them… Which is why I haven’t really realized just yet what connection all of this has with Simone’s strange behavior.
“Some cotton as well,” Zoë said as I held Simone down, took care of her head as she started having muscle spasms again.
Jessica ran up the stairs knowing where to get those things, it’s her house anyways. Quickly, she was back down and we were pressing a piece of cotton with alcohol up to her nose.
“Get some diet coke, or a candy guys.” I said to no one in particular but it was directed at the boys. I glanced at Heather, “Did she drink anything?”
“No, no alcohol in her.” Heather said staring hard at Simone.
“She’s stirring,” Zoë said caressing Simone’s face as she woke up. Her eyes looked tired but well aware.
That was quick.
“We’re gonna take you to the hospital, alright?” Zoë said, “I’ll call my parents just to have some adults there.”
“Okay…”Simone answered back, “But you’ll need my legal guardian…”
“Called mom already,” Jessica said, “She said she’ll meet us there in an hour.”
Matt appeared behind me and he handed me the can of soda with a straw in it.
I said as I brought it down to Simone, “Sugar related?”
“Yeah...” She assured me as her mouth went to the straw and she took small sips of the liquid. “I think I should’ve mentioned it before…”
“Started a while ago,” Zoë informed us. “You did mention it, but I guess we didn’t think it’d happen right now. We have to be more careful next time. Hypoglycemia.”
That sickness about low sugar levels… contrary to diabetes or something like that?
Hmmm…
“Okay, get her up and let’s take her to the car.” Zoë said, “I’m driving.”
“Definitely.” Jessica said smirking at us. “We’ll be behind you. Heather and Alex can go with you. The boys with me… Matt, you’ll drive.”
“Yeah.” Matt said, getting his keys from his pocket. “Let’s go.”
And in no time, the guys had Simone inside Jessica’s SUV, Heather had Simone’s head on her lap, and Zoë and I were at the front seats already heading out of the driveway. All of that was after we told everyone to leave since the house wouldn’t be supervised, and everyone complied. (I repeat, this is a really responsible and understanding group of people.)
I looked behind me at Heather, she was staring down at Simone who had her eyes closed… I guess I haven’t realized they’ve become friends…
I felt Zoë’s hand touch my leg, which made me turn towards her. “You okay?”
“Yeah.” I said, smiling at her and kissing her hand. Something she usually does but I don’t. “Yeah.”
…
Sigh…
I don’t know why but I don’t feel entirely okay. I’m genuinely worried here.

Well, I personally think this is a nice chapter... and I love how I can use Simone's character to add extra flavour here.
Anyways, hope you enjoy it and i'll be back to writing when I go off to winter break.
