"I was going to say punny but you tackled me!" Toriel fake accused the skeleton. They both laughed and I joined them. Gosh I ship them so much.
"Sans, are you too weak to walk to the dining room for breakfast or am I just going to have to carry you?" Mom still had a playful smile on her face, despite how early in the morning it was.
"Eh." Sans replied. "I can walk."
But as the skeleton went to stand, his legs gave out and he grabbed onto mom around the waist, catching himself. It took a lot to hold in the laugher that almost escaped me.
"On second thought," he looked up to her with an apologetic smile and an embarrassed blush. "I think it'd be safer if you'd carry me."
With that, mom picked him up bridal style and we headed downstairs. I ran ahead of mom when I saw that Papyrus was already at the table. With the skeleton distracted by his phone, it was easy to sneak behind him.
"Boo!" I jumped up from behind the chair, making him jump. I giggled when he realized it was me as he replaced his startled face with a smile.
"OH HUMAN! YOU SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH!" He remarked as he picked me up playfully. I laughed harder until it eventually turned into a a light giggle. Then mom came to the table with Sans and Papyrus put me down.
"Hey bro," Sans greeted his brother as mom placed him in his seat.
"GOOD MORNING SANS! HOW WAS YOUR SLEEP?" Papyrus asked cheerfully. Sans smiled as he exchanged glances with mom. I knew that a pun was coming and it took a lot to stifle a laugh.
"Oh it was sansational. How was yours?"
Oblivious to the pun, the younger brother kept smiling.
"GREAT! LIKE ME!" He followed this with a heroic pose that made me giggle once again. I loved his enthusiasm so much that it made me laugh. As Papyrus sat down again next to me, I noticed that mom was already in the kitchen.
"Sans, let me guess.. ketchup?" She asked, holding up a bottle in her hand.
We all knew that it was his favorite, but surprisingly he shook his head.
"Nah. If I have too much of the stuff it makes me a little.. crazy. Ya know? I'll just stick with coffee." He shrugged and mom nodded, placing the bottle down. I wonder what he meant by 'crazy.'
"Papyrus? Frisk?" Mom turned towards us.
"I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS WANT CHOCOLATE MILK!" He announced. Despite being an adult, Papyrus had the heart of a child at times. Wait never mind, I mean all the time.
"Same for me please!" I added.
As mom made our drinks, I looked over at Sans. He was staring at her and I don't think he realized it. Softly, I nudged him in the arm a few times until he looked at me.
"What is it kiddo?" He asked. I frowned.
"You lied to me!" I whispered loudly so that Papyrus and Mom couldn't hear.
"What?" He tilted his head to the side, pretending to forget. I knew that he remembered by the way that his eyes darted to and from my gaze.
"You said you didn't have a thing for my mom, but you do!"
This was followed by silence as the skeleton looked away once again and blushed slightly. I could tell he was struggling with what to say.
"Phfft whhhaaattt?" He was still pretending not to know what I was talking about, but I could tell this time that he was faking.
"Please tell the truth!"
"Well I- uh well you see.." he stuttered as he tried to speak. I could see that this was getting hard for him, but I was determined to get the truth. He ended up sighing as I frowned deeper.
"What if I do? Huh? It doesn't matter. I don't think she'd like me back anyways." He rested his chin on his arms and stared at the table. I shook my head. He has no idea.
---- Sans POV ----
It's been hard keeping the truth from Tori, but I have to. I don't want anyone to get hurt this time. I can't go through that again.
Asgore had kept threatening me every time I see him. But when I was walking here yesterday, I wasn't expecting the beating. Hell, I think it even confused Asgore more that it confused me! I wonder what's wrong with the guy? One moment he's aggressive and another he's all nice again! It's really strange. It had taken all of my energy to make it to the house without collapsing. And I'm glad I did. Tori keeps asking who hurt me, but I keep refusing. If Asgore found out that I told her you can call me and Papyrus dust. I can't deal with that again.
Also I can't figure out how I feel about Tori. I don't know if I love her yet, but I know I don't want to ruin our friendship if she doesn't have the same feelings for me. She is the only one I know who sincerely likes bad puns. Besides Frisk at least. Talking about the kid I think they secretly ship us. I sighed to myself. I can't cope with all of this stress. Maybe I should tell Tori who hurt me and whatever happens, happens. Besides, I can take Asgore. Right?
"Hey Tori," I used the table and chairs as supports to walk up to her.
"Hm? Oh yes Sans?" She turned to look at me and I hesitated. I wanted to get this stress off of my chest but I was afraid of the consequences. Screw it.
"You know how you were asking who had attacked me?" I began and she looked surprised for a second. I can't believe I'm doing this.
"Yes, what about it?" She placed the cup that she was holding down and diverted all of her attention to me. I could feel hot sweat as it ran down the back of my head. Taking a deep breath, I found enough courage to look at her.
"I'm.. going to tell you who did it."
"Yes? And who was it?"
She looked anxious, but I knew that she was relieved inside. I tried to mess with the fabric on my shirt until I realized I didn't have one. Instead, I fumbled with a crease on the bandage. I can do this.. I can do this..
I took another breath and confessed.
"It was.. Asgore.."
