"Because I just don't."
"Are they about vampires?"
" . . . I don't know. I don't want to talk about it."
He sighed. "Whatever."
Nile parked at the beach parking lot. I was staring off in thin air and Nile snapped at me.
"Huh?" I looked over at him.
"Do you want to get out of the car?" He asked.
"Uh, ya." I opened the door and hopped down then slammed the door.
Before I went over to step in the sand I looked at my shoes. Nick just bought these for me. I'll get sand in them . . .
I took my shoes off and carried them in my hand.
"What are you doing?" Nile asked.
"I'll get sand in my new shoes." I said stepping into the sand. My feet sunk in and the sand went in between my toes.
Nile stared at me with a faint smile on his face.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing." He said walking on the sand too.
Nile and I walked along the side of the ocean.
"Why are you dressed up anyway?" Nile asked.
"Nick was going to propose to Autumn, his girlfriend. So we went out for dinner and Nick made me wear this."
"You look cute." He said smiling.
"Uh, thank you." I said looking away.
"I hope I didn't ruin it."
"Nick will probably wait for me to come back . . . If I come back."
"Sorry."
"Its fine . . . um so did Drake leave?" I said looking back at him.
"Yeah actually he did. Yesterday."
Yesterday . . . That's when I saw someone in the window . . .
"Hey um you wouldn't happen to know anything about what happened to Richard, would you?" I asked.
"Richard? No, I don't think so. Why?"
"Uh, no reason."
"No, tell me."
"Nothing, never mind."
Nile shut up.
"Do you know what Nick told Jordan?" I asked changing the subject.
"Yes actually I do."
"What did he say?"
"I'm not telling you."
We're going to play this little game, aren't we? It sucks not being at the mansion. I don't get to know the latest gossip. Vampire gossip. Ha, that sounds funny.
"What are you thinking about in that head of yours?" Nile said flicking me in the head.
"Ow. Nothing." I said rubbing my head.
"You seem very alert or something." He said.
"Alert? How do I look alert?"
"I don't know . . . Did something to happen while you were at Nick's?"
"No . . ."
He stopped me from walking and made me face him.
"What happened?" He asked.
