"Sir Toru, it's dinner time. Would you like to eat here or in the dining room together with the other heroes?"

"I'll eat here", i quickly responded.

Sophia nodded.
After that she left and came back 5 minutes later with her cart.

"Please enjoy your meal, sir Toru",
she said.

Then she illuminated the candle standing on the desk, turned around and left.
I didn't ask her to stay again.
20 minutes after that, she came to pick up the plates and left once again.

I started reading again.
Every now and then i heard the scraping of chairs as one by one, everyone in the library started to leave.
In the end, only i was left, reading a thick book on the history and culture of Sophetiria in the dim light of a candle.

A couple of hours later, Sophia came back.

"Sir Toru, it's really late right now.
It might be better to go to sleep".

With tired eyes i looked at her and knew she was right.

"Okay", i said.

I blew out the candle and left together with Sophia, who guided me to my room.
There i took off the upper half of my clothes and laid myself down on my bed.
I immediately fell asleep.

This became my daily routine for the next couple of days.

Eating breakfast, reading, eating lunch, reading, eating dinner, reading, going to sleep.

The library became as much as a second home to me.

But then the fifth day since i arrived in this world came.

I woke up.
As usual, Sophia was standing at my bedside.
But then she said something she hadn't before:

"Good morning, sir Toru. Our majesty, the King has asked for you. Please go with the guard waiting for you after you finish breakfast".

Then, she bowed and left.

It has come.
The day were i have to meet my classmates has arrived.
Feeling quite sick i took my daily bath, ate breakfast and then quitted my room.

The moment i did, a guard caught my eye.
Cladded in well-polished armor, he looked at a fixed point.
It was only after he noticed me he shifted his gaze.

"Good morning, sir Toru. I'm second general to the army of Sophetiria, Magnus. I am here to guide you to his Majesty, the King".

He told all this with a faint smile on his face. Yet, the happy feeling he tried to emmit didn't reach his eyes.

I noticed he wasn't here for his pleasure but that wasn't all.

Why, i thought, is someone with a high rank like general here to escort someone to the King?

Normally, some lowbie soldier would have to do easy escort missions like this one.
Yet...

I didn't feel all too comfortable.

But i hadn't much time to think about it, as he had already turned around and started to lead the way.
I quickly tried to catch up to him.

We went through six long corridors in silence.
At last, after a 10 minute walk, we arrived at the destination.

"Please enter", Magnus said in a cold voice.

I did as he said.
I grabbed the golden doorknobs and pushed open the large double-door.
I entered.

It was a beautiful room.
A large, massive oaken desk was taking the leading role in the room.
Shining, like it was brand-new, it had only a few things on it.
Pen, ink bottle and some paper documents.
Behind the desk was a large, white marmer fireplace with a glass statue of a horse standing on top of it.
A beautifully made painting of the King and the Queen was hanging above the fireplace.
Light fell in through numerous windows and at night the place was illuminated by a gigantic chandelier.
