Song: Ready to Run // One Direction
Bellamy's POV
I laughed weakly as Nessa smiled up at me. She coughed a few more times and then managed to sit up.
"I'm fine, guys, it's going to take more than Murphy to kill me," she assured us, her voice barely a hoarse whisper.
Her words reminded me. Murphy. He was still on the drop ship. He had a gun and had blockaded himself in with our ammo, but I was going to kill him with my bare hands. Blind rage coursed through me. "MURPHY!" I shouted, making my way to the ladder up to the second floor. I pounded on the door. He had locked it from the inside.
"MURPHY!" I yelled again, pounding on the door as hard as I could. "THIS ONLY ENDS ONE WAY FOR YOU!" There was no way he was getting out of this alive. I was personally going to make sure of that. I slammed my shoulder into the door again and again. It budged, but only a little. Something was blocking it from opening. I heard rustling from the other side, and suddenly an explosion rocked the drop ship. I slipped a few rungs down the ladder. That's when I realized what else was stored with our ammo on the second floor.
All of our gunpowder. Son of a BITCH, Murphy.
Nessa's POV
As the drop ship settled after the explosion from upstairs, I heard Bellamy finally break through the door to the second floor. I heard his hoarse, angry shouts at Murphy. I had never seen him this angry. I mean, I wanted to kill Murphy too, but I think Bellamy wanted to rip him into tiny, tiny pieces. And then burn those pieces with a blowtorch. Shakily, I got to my feet and followed Jasper up the ladder. We saw Bellamy standing in front of a huge, gaping hole in the side of the drop ship. I noticed an empty can lying on the ground marked "GUNPOWDER This Crap Will Blow Your Damn Face Off!" and suddenly it clicked.
"Son of a bitch, Murphy," I breathed.
Jasper walked over to join Bellamy at the hole. "Guy sure knows how to make an exit," he said. Through the hole I saw Murphy sprinting away through the woods. Snarling, I made to run and jump out of the hole myself. But someone's arm stopped me.
"Hey, easy there, killer." I looked up at Bellamy and saw my anger mirrored. He took a deep breath and brought his hands up to my face, tilting it up so I was looking right into his eyes. "I want to kill him as much as you do. Hell, probably more. But we can't afford to go chasing after him. Let the Grounders find him, I'm sure they'll do much worse than us," he said to me.
I snorted. "I doubt that. I'm thinking up some pretty creative ways to murder someone right about now." But although I hated to admit it, he was right. Bellamy laughed and pulled me into a tight hug, burying his face in my hair.
"You're ok, and that's all that matters right now," he whispered, so soft that only I could hear. Then he looked up at Jasper. "We're going after Clarke, Finn, and Monty. You and Raven were right. We don't abandon our own. Two guns, you and me, that's it. Raven stays here to build up defenses. We lost a day because of this, and our gunpowder." He began to walk over to the ladder, pulling me with him. He motioned for me to start climbing down.
"Raven!" he called down.
"Bellamy, wait, I just-" I heard Jasper say softly. Bellamy paused and looked at him. Surprising everyone present, Jasper walked forward and hugged Bellamy. "Thank you," he whispered.
"Honestly Murphy should go on a murderous rampage more often, it really brings everyone together," I called up, trying to lighten the mood and draw attention away from how uncomfortable and shocked Bellamy looked. Both boys looked down at me, Bellamy giving me a small smile and Jasper a teary laugh.
