S1E5: Falling Stars Pt. 1

Start from the beginning

"Should take the edge off," My Mom handed me a glass filled with whiskey and I acknowledged the burn but praised its ability to calm my nerves.

My Dad checked my temperature and then ripped my riding pant up to the knee. I grimaced at the sight of my favorite pants being torn but nearly threw up at the sight of my leg looking discolored, purplish with blue veins. My Mom hugged me as Dad worked over my leg with his usual quiet humming.

When we were kids, Mickey and I had only gone to the doctors for stuff like Chickenpox or Pneumonia. Anything else, my Dad fixed.

I came to after an hour or so of rest. My leg looked better and it was wrapped in a cast and my foot seemed to be going down from its huge size. I pressed my fingers to my leg and it just felt numb all over.

"Gonna take a few days to get better, lass. Haven't seen none of you all broken up like this since Mickey fell from that tree."

"It was a pretty nasty fall. Speaking of, where is Mick? I called her and she said she'd come."

"Your Mum's got her cleaning and running errands for the party that Gemma's going to throw for the Sons when they return from their run. Gemma's moving the party over here since you got hurt. Never seen that woman not make herself the center of everything," My Dad shook his head as he lit a cigar and started smoking.

The photos on the walls of his studies must keep him company because they sure as hell made me feel like talking. John Teller, Clay, and Piney were all circled around each other with my Dad back in their younger years. I didn't know what their brotherhood meant but it sure looked nice.

"Did it ever get old? Having the Club constantly coming between you and Mom?"

"Why do you ask that?"

"I remember nights when you and Mom yelled until she cried. The walls were thick but my innocence was thinning every night I crept out of bed to come and find you. Find you so I'd know you were just as safe as the rest of us."

He extinguished his smoke and poured a glass of whiskey. The haunted look in his eyes flickered for a second and then it was gone. Years of secrecy during his time with the Sons was paying off in this moment.

"She was the first girl to ever understand where I came from...."

Flashback

Michael got off his bike, kicking out the stand as he headed into the gas station to buy him some fuel.

A black tinted BMW pulled up beside his bike and an impeccably dressed young lady in her early twenties with raven black hair down to her shoulders, light brown eyes, and a beauty mark resting just above her plump bow shaped lips.
