"Hello Kanan, beta tickets mil gye tumhe? (Did you get the tickets?"
"Yes Mother, tickets. Why did you send us the tickets?!"
"Why can't we? And why are you yelling?"
I sighed. "I don't know because... because now I'm married and it is my..." I looked up at my husband who was now busy reading the newspaper.
"As I was saying it is now my husband's duty... to you know think about all that stuff."
I could feel Jay's gaze on me but I ignored looking at him.
"Kanan beta, tickets have been booked, and we have discussed it with your in-laws before booking them. Thanks to Nakul beta, he suggested to your mother-in-law and me. We both planned this trip to Bali together."
What? My mother-in-law? Oh, why not? After all, she's the one who asked for a grandchild. And Nakul, you sneaky stupid fool. I grunted in agony.
"I'm sure you will enjoy your trip with Jay. I mean you guys deserve to enjoy life before all the hard stuff starts you know?"
"What hard stuff?"
"You know after some time you'll be giving us good news and..."
"Mom!" I groaned. "Please...listen about the tickets, it's so nice of you guys but I don't think it's a good idea." I changed a look at Jay to find him looking at me with sudden interest. "I mean, Jay is really busy, he barely gets time to himself. How will he make time for me?"
He raised a brow at me, I ignored him. Again.
"This is why we planned this trip. Look, Kanan, the honeymoon is every couple's right, so quit complaining. You two leave tomorrow morning, call dad if you need any guidance regarding the ticket."
"But ma- "
"Enjoy your trip beta. We all will miss you so much."
"I miss you too mom and everyone else."
"We expect to see you two when you come back. Now go and start packing."
I sighed in response.
"Bye beta, have a safe trip."
"Yeah, bye Mom." With that, I ended the call.
"So?" Asked Jay as I stood up.
"It was Nakul who sowed the honeymoon seed into your and my mother's mind."
"So I figured." He nodded, coming to stand alongside me.
We both stared out of the window not saying anything.
"Listen..." He began and I turned to look at him. "I can talk to my mother and have the tickets canceled, won't be a big issue. You don't have to go anywhere." He suggested, watching me carefully.
If he was trying to make me feel better by suddenly playing the good guy card, it wasn't working. On the contrary, it just angered me more.
I cocked my head to the side. "Or maybe..."
"Yes?" He asked anxiously as if holding out his breath.
"You can have the second honeymoon with Tanya."
"Excuse me?"
"Yes, no one would know. You can go there and see...whatever the places Bali is famous for." I suggested with a smile and he gave me the coldest stare.
"You need to stop bringing Tanya." His voice still calm but I could see his aggravation at the way he clenched his jaw.
"Or what?"
