"I don't know. Maybe your right." She sighed, defeated.
Alec pulled his smaller sister cooler to him and into a brotherly hug. "No need to fret, dear sister", he whispered into her hair, "All will be well in the end."

Back in his own room, Alec conjured the image of the nomad vampire to mind. The wild look about her when she first came into the throne room as opposed to after her intense cleaning session with Jane. If Alec still had a heart, he was sure it would have skipped a beat at the sight of a clean Sybil.
Wrapped in a red silk robe that certainly would have choked her if she were still human with the way high and tight way Jane had tied it. Dark hair, color still undetermined, pulled back into a braid, every pale and inhumanly perfect feature that was previously hidden by her mane was now exposed. Large violet eyes under dark brows, welsh nose, bow mouth that was the softest shade of pink, round cheeks that he was sure used to be frequently flushed with life. Alec then realized he needed to stop waxing poetry on a girl he barely knew. Damn vampire eyesight and perfect memory.
Alec wondered what her blood would taste like if she were still human, if it were as peculiar as she was. He wondered what her eye color used to be before the lethargic purple they were now. Or if she had any family left behind, or friends, or significant other. He felt himself growl at that thought.
Despite the fact Alec could imagine Sybil anywhere with anyone, (Sybil with a black cloak and the Volturi, Sybil with stylish clothing and gold eyes with the Cullens, Sybil with blue eyes in a crowd of humans), he couldn't imagine her being with anyone. Not like the Masters' and their mates, or like humans with their husbands and boyfriends. Well, he couldn't imagine any man standing next to her, not Demetri or Felix, or that young nomad that wondered through last year, or any human teenage boy who had the misfortune of being on the Volterra castle tour. No matter who Alec, in his musings, put next to Sybil, all looked wring net to her. And no matter who, as soon as the thought occurred, Alec snarled as though the very notion was the most offensive thing he ever saw.
'It doesn't matter anyway.' He thought bitterly. 'She will stand witness and leave.' Even though the thought of Sybil leaving mad the male witch twin feel something akin to nausea and made him feel hollow inside.
Hours passed (Alec guessed roughly 12) before the twins were reunited in Alec's room.
"I'm going to wake Sybil now, if you wanted to come." She offered, half leaning in the doorway with a hopeful expression on her face.
Alec naturally wanted to say something snarky, but he hasn't seen an expression rather than anger or apathy on his sister's face for so long, he couldn't help but cave in. "If you wish me to come, I will." he responded
"Good. I wish it. Come along." She teased, turning away and walking from the open door. Alec sighed and quickly caught up with his twin silently.
The woodsy scent of Demetri wafted through the halls, along with the sharp and rusty scent of an unknown vampire. A furious scream erupted from down the hall and the sound of a scuffle ensued along with the sound of a crying child.
"It seems that Demetri caught his prey earlier than we thought." Alec observed.
Jane stiffened. The thought of Sybil, awfully weak Sybil who could barely take care of herself, leaving so soon displeased her. "So it seems." With a troubled look, she turned to her brother. "Could you do me a favor?"
Alec scoffed. As if she needed to ask.

Aro and his 'brothers' were resting in the library, which laid beyond the throne room.
