Cursed (Zeref X Reader)

Chapter 4

"Of all people, it was (Y/N) and Wendy," Loke mutters, eyes narrowed in determination.

"I ain't holding back," Gray agrees, summoning his magic to create a large hammer made of ice which he sends flying toward you. You teleport directly behind him and see him flinch. Without hesitation, you send a scythe-like blade of light toward Gray's face, which he just manages to block with his arm.

Across the battlefield, you see Wendy aiming her Sky Dragon's Roar attack at Loke, who counters with a blinding beam of light. The two seem evenly matched at the moment, but Wendy is losing ground.

You turn your attention back to Gray in time to see him cover the ground with a thin layer of ice, causing Wendy to slip and fall.

Quickly, you swing your leg into Gray's stomach, breaking his concentration and causing the ice to disappear. Both of you spring backwards just as Loke flies toward you from behind, his fist encased in golden light.

He punches and breaks the rock behind you as you appear behind him. "Slow," you comment in a monotone voice as you send another blade of magic at his back.

Out of the corner of your eye you see Gray aiming an Ice Cannon at you and barely manage to put up a magic barrier to protect you from the giant explosion.

The smoke clears and Gray's smirk disappears, his eyes widening in shock as he sees you crouched against a rock, breathing hard but still conscious after the huge impact.

"Gray, let's take Wendy out of the equation first," Loke calls.

Said mage turns his attention away from you and takes out a jar of pickled plums. He begins stuffing them into his mouth which makes his face pucker up. Loke does the same, but his head is also glowing. Both mages lean toward Wendy, who is effectively frozen with trauma.

While neither Gray nor Loke were paying attention, you managed to heal yourself using magic. Now, your eyes glow as a yellow outline forms around the two opposing mages.

They float into the air and hang, suspended in midair as you unleash a whirlwind of magic toward both of them. They are unable to escape and you land a direct hit on them both. For good measure, you smash them both into the ground afterwards. Hard.

"That was too easy," you comment, leaning over both of them and smirking in their faces. They don't answer, seeing as they're almost unconscious.

You take Wendy's arm and manage to drag her traumatized body out of the tunnel.

"I'm sorry I was so useless, (Y/N)-san!" Wendy cries as the two of you walk toward the exit of the tunnel.

You put a hand on her shoulder, assuring her that everything was fine.

The tunnel begins to brighten as you near the end, and you are temporarily blinded as you step out into the sunlight.

"(Y/N)! Wendy!" A familiar voice calls.

The two of you look around to see Lucy, Cana, Levy, and Gajeel sitting on a rocky ledge. Happy is there too, although Natsu is nowhere to be seen.

"I knew you would pass the first test," the blonde continues.

"Congratulations, for now," Cana adds.

"We got the peaceful route," Levy explains, looking relieved although Gajeel looks angry that he didn't get to beat the crap out of anyone.

A figure ambles down the pathway which reveals itself to be Master Makarov.

"Now then, I think everyone's here!" he says cheerfully.

"Hold it!" A voice grunts, and Elfman and Evergreen limp through the bushes with a triumphant smile on their faces. "We beat Onee-chan!"

Master's eyes widen. "They beat Mirajane? Incredible!"

Natsu, who has been sulking on the side for a while, suddenly jumps up. "(Y/N), Cana, Levy, Elfman, let's fight and see just who will become an S Class Wizard!"

Everyone's cheers are laced with determination and fire in their eyes. Master grins and announces the second test of the exam.  

A/N: I hope everyone is enjoying the story so far! Sorry if the fight scene was kind of cringy, but what can I say :P
