Chapter 4: The Truth

Start from the beginning

"I've been here all my life too. Although I travel to Miami during spring break. It's your turn to ask a question." Blake chuckled.

"Favorite food." I said. I always thought that based on someone's food is what they're really like. If they liked fast food, they were sweet and down to earth. If one likes high end restaurants and expensive meats, they were, well, a snob.

"I like steak and potatoes from this restaurant in New Haven. We should go sometime." Blake said. I laughed. There was no way I was going on a date with him. He'll just use me until I give him what he wants. And what he wants is obviously sex.

"Maybe." I said with a smile on my face. I had to act like Kate. I'm sure Kate would love to go on a date with him. She's flirty and outgoing.

"Good. Favorite hobbie?" He asked.

"Reading." I said instantly. I loved to read. Science fiction, romance, teen fiction, historical fiction, I loved anything fiction. My favorite was the romance category. Although I knew that nothing like that would ever happen to me, I still liked reading about it. I liked being surrounded by fictitious characters.

"Didn't peg you for a reader?" He said. He took a sip of his cup before throwing it in the ground. I frowned a little. He was littering.

"Yeah. It's one of my little secrets." I said blushing. I was stunned how easily flirting came when I was with him. I didn't even have to think about it. It came naturally.

I felt a wave of emotion go through me. I didn't like how easily and carefree I felt with him. I can't get attatched. I can't allow him to see the real me; the real me that he wouldn't understand.

"What other secrets do you have?" He smirked. I chuckled. I ignored the feeling in me, replying to his question.

"My turn to ask a question." I said. I looked up to the sky. The moon was shining and stars surrounded it. It was beautiful.

"It's beautiful, isn't it." He said. I looked down and saw him looking at me. My heart felt heavy. The look in his eyes made my stomach tie in knots. This didn't feel right. I shouldn't be feeling this.

"Biggest fear." I said ignoring his previous comment. The feeling inside me did not go away.

"That's easy. Becoming ugly." He smirked. I rolled my eyes.

"Conceited much." I said.

"I'm joking babe. My biggest fear is losing my dad." He said with a bit of sadness in his eyes. It showed a deeper meaning, one he wasn't ready to share.

"I wouldn't be able to live without my parents either." I said easing the tension. The air had grown thick with his response. I wanted out. I wanted this conversation to be light and flirty. "Chocolate is my guilty pleasure."

"What?" He chuckled. The tension broke, creating an easy feeling. I relaxed.

"One of my secrets is that I enjoy chocolate." I said truthfully.

"I don't feel like that's a secret." He chuckled. His laugh was deep, creating a wave of emotions within me. Emotions that I couldn't describe.

"Not everyone knows I love anything chocolate. Only my best friend Mor-" I stopped. I couldn't tell him her name. He'll know who she is and then my secret will be revealed. He can't know i'm Krissy.
