"Yes, sir, I do believe that this fine lady and I are splendidly complete with the food displayed and munchéd by our hungry lips of speaking," Enoch spoke, exaggerating the waiter's accent.
I stifled a laugh as the waiter glared at Enoch. The dead-riser looked up at the waiter with a cheesy smile and the British man soon left with a scoff.
When he was gone, I slapped Enoch's arm and laughed.
"You didn't have to mock him," I stated.
Enoch scoffed, "And let him keep hitting on you? Yeah, just sunshine and rainbows."
I laughed lightly and reached into my pocket for money, but Enoch had beat me too it.
"Enoch I can pay."
"You're not paying," he growled at me.
"Woah there," I joked.
He smirked and placed 7.85 pounds - 10 dollars- on the table before we both stood up and walked out of the diner.
Enoch and I walked towards the beach in silence, which I didn't mind. It was the same beautiful afternoon, like everyday, and the sun beat hot rays down on us. I couldn't wait to jump into the cool water, but at the same time, I could wait.
I was terrified.
I furrowed my eyebrows as the ocean came into view. I tried to ignore the memories that came crashing into my mind once our feet came into contact with the warm sand.
I shuddered as a loud wave hit the beach. Enoch looked down at me and glanced at my hand. He sheepishly brushed his fingers with mine, and I looked up at him. Another loud wave caused me to jump, and Enoch quickly took my hand in his.
I gulped nervously and let a tiny smile show itself to Enoch.
"Adeira, if you don't want to stay here-"
"I'll be okay."
Peering at the ocean with soft eyes, I noted the change I felt. With Enoch's touch I felt like nothing could hurt me. Not even the memories of Miss Parrot's loop. I squeezed Enoch's hand gently and we started walking farther towards the water.
Once we were about halfway to the ocean, Enoch stopped and let go of my hand. I felt my hand tingle and the warmth leave it like a gust of wind.
Enoch placed a small towel on the ground and put our things down. As he set up our little area, I stared out at the water. Without Enoch noticing, I lifted up my bathing suit cover up, just so that I could look at the scar on my abdomen. As my cool fingers touched the thick scar my head began to spin. I felt my breathing pick up and tears formed in my eyes. Enoch looked up to me.
"Adeira?"
I wrapped my arms around myself. Tears threatened to spill, but soon retreated as Enoch stood in front of me. He moved my arms from around my body and looked at me with a worried expression.
"I'm sorry Enoch."
"For what?"
"For being so weak."
