Chapter One: And So It Begins

Start from the beginning

"I'll tell you after we all settle down," Ophelia exclaimed. The small Hufflepuff let go of her tall friend and sat back down in her original seat by the window.

Nicole Andre was next. Ophelia had known Nicole and Dove since the first day just 6 years ago. Nicole was beautiful, from her curly brown locks to her beautifully coloured skin. Like Ophelia, Nicole comes from a long line of pure-blood wizards and witches. She didn't possess the idealistic views that muggleborn children shouldn't be allowed a magical education, a view that pure-blooded families forced upon their young children. They embraced each other ever so quickly and sat down with the rest of their friends.

Ophelia went around hugging all the girls, sisters Twyla and Elowen Hollow were next, closely followed by Iakona Prewett and Raine Abbott.

The last person Ophelia hugged was Starr Westenra. She had also known Ophelia, Dove and Nicole from the first, the four of them shared a carriage with each other and then the magical boat ride that all Hogwarts students never forget.

The two girls embraced each ever so tightly as if they hadn't seen each other in years, but it had only been a week. "Happy birthday, Starr!" Ophelia exclaimed.

Starr pulled back and rolled her eyes, "honestly, what is the point with birthdays anyways. Like, woo congratulations you're one step closer to death!"

The other girls laughed as Ophelia reached into her robe pocket, "I guess you don't want this then?"

Starr raised her eyebrows, "Ophelia, I've –"

"It's from all of us," Ophelia smiled as she held the small gift in the palms of her hands, waiting for Starr to reach for it, "come on Starr, what's not to love? It's only a little gift from your best friends!"

Starr took the small gift out of Ophelia's hands and slowly began to unwrap the poorly wrapped packaging. Another one of Ophelia's areas to improve.

"Maybe let Morg wrap next time, yeah Lia?" Starr laughed as she struggled to remove the badly knotted ribbon.

"You're a witch, Starr, use your wand!"

"It's fine I've got it," Starr laughed as she passed the rubbish to Iakona.

Within seconds the lift was off and back on the box again as Starr gasped at the content within. She looked up at the girls, tears forming in her eyes as she shook her head in disbelief.

"We got it back for you," Elowen smiled at her friend, "it was your Grandmothers and it was wrongly taken, you deserve it!"

Starr pulled all the girls in for a tight hug.

"I can never thank you enough," Starr wiped her tears, "this is the best present anyone has ever given to me."

"Come on, put it on," Nicole hollered.

Starr lifted the lid again and handed the box to Iakona again. All the girls admired the small silver pendant that Starr was holding.

The pendant had such significance to Starr and her family as it represented the faith and unity her family had during the witch trials in the old Filipino days.

Starr's grandparents moved over here in early 1864 due to the risk of exposing the magical community. And after her grandmother's tragic death the pendant was stolen. The pendant, though it was small shared the old stories of her family lineage and some of her ancestors were burned in the witch trials.

"Thank you all, really I can't thank you enough, my grandmother would be so grateful for you all."

The girls all sat down and smiled, Ophelia took her small black cat, Achromatic, from Morgandy's arms and ever so carefully placed him on her lap.
