Chapter One: And So It Begins

Start from the beginning

"Moving on from the heart-warming but tragic story, are you going to tell us what happened with Emory over the summer?" Elowen asked, her eyes glistening just at the thought of the magical relationship Ophelia had with her boyfriend, Emory.

"We just spent a couple weeks at my house and a couple at his, no big deal." Ophelia shrugged and deep sigh coming out of her.

"No big deal?" Elowen's younger sister, Twyla asked. "Are you actually mad? No couple ever spends their summer together and shrugs it off as if it is no big deal!" Twyla glared at the now laughing witch as her friends stared at her in disbelief.

"What Twyla is trying to say is, that something happened and we want to know what and if you don't I will hex you!" Dove said pulling out her wand and aiming it at her friend.

"Woah, easy there. I'm being serious, it wasn't a big deal if I'm going to be honest with you, well..." Ophelia paused whilst straightening her posture.

"What's wrong?" Starr looked at her worryingly.

"I'm not feeling it with Emory anymore," Ophelia stated.

"Define not feeling it," Nicole spoke softly.

"I feel like something's wrong, he's been really secretive. He received a letter over the summer from Hogwarts, but he wouldn't let me read it, saying it was confidential business about the first day back," Ophelia admitted.

"Morg?" Starr looked to her.

Morgandy sighed, "Ophelia, I'm so sorry, but I didn't receive a letter from Hogwarts at all this summer. I hate to say it, but Emory is hiding something."

"No, Morg, it's fine, it's not your fault, I just wish he could trust me."

After a long while of silent comforting, the train came to a halt and the compartment door opened revealing Emory Oliphant, newly elected Head Boy, Gryffindor Quidditch Team Captain and Ophelia's secret-keeping boyfriend.

He barely fit the frame of the doorway as he was so tall, his gorgeous chocolate brown eyes locked onto Ophelia. He stood there standing tall, back straight in his new Gryffindor uniform he had bought the week previous, his Head Boy badge wonky and pinned in the wrong place.

Ophelia gave him a faint smile as she walked over to him, unpinning his badge from his collar and placing it in the correct place that was just above the heart. His slightly curly hair was dropped down slightly as he looked down at his girlfriend who was looking back up at him. He smiled showing off his perfectly straight, white teeth and leaned in to kiss her. The kiss was only a small, it barely last three seconds, but both Emory and Ophelia could feel the tension between them, but they didn't want to admit it, for the sake of their relationship.

"Um Em, we have to go see Headmaster Dippet straight away, there will be a carriage waiting for us as soon as we get off the train," Morgandy announced and Emory just simply nodded his head.

Emory turned back to Ophelia and pulled her face up close to his.

"Miss Lockwood, I will see you after dinner," Emory smiled at Ophelia and leaned in and quickly pecked her on the lips.

"Okay, I will see you then." Ophelia smiled back when they pulled away.

Emory stepped back and returned to his straight posture. He smiled at all the girls and waved goodbye to the seven of them as he left out the door, Morgandy shortly behind him as she also waved, as they left the train came to a stop and they seven girls turned to look out the window, the sign in front of them read 'Hogsmeade Train Station'.

The remaining girls all looked at each other, none of them daring to speak, well except Nicole.

"Wow things were seriously awkward," Nicole stated the obvious, "do you think he'll tell you what he's hiding tonight?"

"I'm not too sure," Ophelia shrugged, "however, we have a gigantic feast waiting for us up at that splendid castle we call home and I'm not missing out!"

They all smiled and ran straight out of the compartment towards the exit of the second carriage. As they exited the carriage Ophelia watched Emory and Morgandy ride off towards the castle on the self-pulling carriage.

The girls made their way towards the carriages, as they got to where they would line up she saw the one and only Tom Riddle and his little gang that consisted of Abraxas Malfoy, Orion Black, Harlen Avery, Arkin Lestrange, Alphard Black, Odgar Nott, Lachlann Selwyn, Thorfinn Rowle, Quinten Rosier and Antonin Dolohov. Harlen and Orion smiled at Ophelia, Arkin stared down at Dove and the rest all had a dirty smug look on their faces. Dove became uncomfortable within seconds gripping firmly onto Ophelia's right arm. Ophelia winced in pain as she knew that Dove's tight grip would leave a print on her arm where her fingernails once were.

Dove refused to let Arkin get the better of her. To her, he was just a mistake of an ex-boyfriend.

The seven of them climbed onto the carriage, and as soon as Nicole sat down, it began to move. Their ride up to the Castle was, as usual, beautiful. They took in the breathtakingly beautiful landscapes of the Hogwarts grounds, and soon enough their carriage was full of laughter when their eyes landed on a first-year student who fell into the Black Lake from his boat.

When their carriage ride came to an end they walked through the Castle doors, towards the flight of stairs that would take them to the Great Hall for their dinner and the Sorting Ceremony for first years.

When the seven girls entered the Great Hall they went their separate ways towards their house tables, Ophelia looked over to the Gryffindor table to see Emory's eyes firmly locked on to hers, she smiled as he watched her walk all the way round to her seat next to Tom Riddle and his followers.
