Chelsea had placed the chalkboard stand outside of our shop to let the customers who were passing by and to those who were in the line know what was our specials for the day. I opened the doors myself at 8 and greeted them warmly.
Some of them went to the tables to dine in and some were in line to take away whatever they wanted.
"Hi there guys. Good morning. Today we have some specials of the day, would you like to give it a go?" I said and explained to them. They decided to try out the specials. I took their order and went back to the kitchen.
I enjoyed the rush of everything in the kitchen. Stepping out of the kitchen, I realized it was already pass noon!
"Where the hell did the time go?" I thought to myself.
The bakery was not as crowded as it was earlier. There were a few ladies having tea and from what I could tell, gossiping. A few students had their laptop set up in the corner and were flipping through books.
I walked to the shiny coffee machine and made 2 espresso's with milk. I even made fancy coffee art for them.
"Here you go guys. On the house. Study hard." I placed it down.
"Thank you. Thank you so much." the girls told me.
It didn't hurt to be nice sometimes. I knew what it was like to pour over books and try to eat the whole damn book up. There was alot of brain power needed and coffee helped me out most of the time.
"Well, well, well, am I not going to get served here?!" Jon said dramarically as he entered the shop.
"You came!!" I hugged him.
"Of course I came. Your best-est friend in the world missed the first day because of his finance exam he better be in here the next day!" he rolled his eyes.
"Grab whatever seat you want. I'll bring some whoopies pies that are fresh out of the oven."
"I want extra cream cheese." he whispered quietly.
"Anything for you doll." I winked
I grabbed a slice of pie as well and told one of the waitress to get some latte's for us.
"So.. how was your class today?" I asked sitting down on the plush sofa that was in one of the corners
"Not too bad. Everyone is just getting ready for summer. So the lecturers are easing off our backs. I'll be in here often. For sure Ill be bringing in the other hoes in my class. Not like you need more business or anything."
"Mmmm I can smell their money already!!" I joked and we both laughed
"Have you called the Food Network channel back or not?" he bit the whoopie pie that was filled with lush creamy cream cheese.
"I was gonna do it after work." he gave me a murderous glare as I said that.
"You pick up the phone and do it now Kat. No, it doesn't show that you're desperate."
"Fine.. fine." I took my phone out of my pocket and tapped on the number that I saved from the card yesterday.
"Hi.. this is Katerina Baker. You visited my shop yesterday? I'm just calling to say that you guys have the green-light to do a section on us. What's the procedure like?" I silently gestured Jon for a pen and paper and began writing everything they were saying.
"Alright, we'll see you guys soon." I finally put the phone down after 20 minutes.
"Wow. That looks like a lot." Jon noticed the paper
