"Mademoiselle Y/N, it's a pleasure to see you once again." Lafayette said.
Y/N offered Lafayette a weak smile in return. "I wish it was under different circumstances. I can't believe my brother is already headed off to war."
"Ah, oui. I wish we could spend more time in New York. But, it seems we have a war to fight. Mademoiselle Y/N, I was wondering..." Lafayette trailed off. His hands began to shake slightly.
"Yes?"
"Well, I was wondering if... you'd like to, how you say, go-" Lafayette was interrupted by someone clearing their throat.
Angelica stood behind Lafayette, and gave Y/N a tight smile. "Y/N, do you mind if I speak with Monsieur Lafayette for a moment?"
Y/N didn't want to end her conversation with Lafayette, but it would be rude to deny Angelica her request. Lafayette himself looked a little baffled. Y/N nodded, and left Angelica to speak with Lafayette.
Meanwhile, Alexander and Eliza had finished talking, leaving Alexander free to say bye to Y/N.
"So, I guess this is it." Alexander said sadly.
Y/N nodded. "I guess it is."The two stood their awkwardly for a moment, before embracing each other tightly.
"I'm going to miss you so much, Alex!" Y/N said softly.
Alexander held Y/N tightly. "I'm going to miss you, too. You're going to be fine here, I promise. The Schuyler's can give you opportunities I never could. It's for the best."
"Maybe it is, but that doesn't make it any better." Y/N replied, her voice quavering. "Promise me you'll stay safe. And write to me as often as possible."
"Of course, Y/N. Anything you want. I love you, 'lil sis." Alexander said, releasing Y/N.
Y/N fought back the tears that were forming in her eyes. "Goodbye, Alexander."
"Goodbye, Y/N. I promise I'll be back soon." Alexander said, placing a soft kiss against her forehead.
"Men, we should head out." General Washington announced in a deep voice.
The siblings reluctantly parted. Washington, his men, and Alexander saddled their horses, and began trotting away. Y/N and the Schuyler's waited outside, waving to the men as they left. When the horses were out of sight, the Schuyler's began to trickle back in to the mansion. Y/N followed Peggy into the house, gawking in amazement at the size of their mansion. Angelica had a giddy grin present on her face as she skipped over to the sofa in the parlor, collapsing on the soft cushion with a dreamy sigh.
"What's up with her?" Y/N muttered under her breath to Peggy, who just shrugged.
Eliza showed up on Y/N's other side. "I heard her talking with Monsieur Lafayette. She asked him to write to her while he's gone. It seems our Angelica is smitten."
Peggy's eyes went wide, and she quickly took Y/N's arm. "Here, Y/N, let me show you to your room."
A small frown was on Y/N's face, but she nodded and followed Peggy up into a corridor. Peggy led Y/N into a large room. The room had a queen sized, four poster bed against one wall, and a window seat that faced the front yard. On the back wall, were two doors.
