Re-editing some of my stuff. lol THIS ONE IS FOR MY ANXIOUS GIRLIES!

"Will you just go give it to him?" You felt your friend press her hands against your back, shoving you. You looked down at your chest; part of you checked that no one could visibly see your heart thumping out of your chest. Your friend pushed again, snapping the gum in her mouth. Quickly, you looked around for anybody who might be watching you acting so cowardly.

"Give me time, will ya?" You sputtered. She rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms, her gaze shifting to the DX.

There you two stood in the smoldering heat, shoes burning up against the hot pavement that lay behind the gas station. Your cheeks reddened as you realized how dramatic you were being; composing yourself, you let out a long breath. She smiled, taking a large breath herself.

However, you still couldn't get the racing thoughts of worry out of your mind.

"But...I think- well, don't you think it's weird that I'm getting him something? We're not going together or anything like that," You trailed off and bit the inside of your cheek, slowly untwisting the handles of the gift bag off your wrists. You began to hand the gift over to her.

"Y/n no," your friend wore a compassionate smile as she ushered the gift back to you. You really liked Steve, you guys being good friends and all. Well, not like buddy-buddy friends, but you helped him with school, and he helped you with your car. He was so attractive to you, he was one of the only genuine guys you've dealt with. He was a walking juxtaposition of softness and loyalty with pessimism and grit.

More recently, he started to ask you to go out to eat after study sessions or oil changes. At times, you felt there was a mutual understanding that he was going to ask you to be his girlfriend soon. So why would it be weird if you got him a gift for his birthday?

You were being ridiculous! You concluded, standing a bit taller.

"Golly, it's only weird if you make it. He got you a gift too for your birthday, so it would be rude if you didn't give one back." Your friend rolled her eyes, a teasing tone in her voice. However, you took her words to heart, and suddenly she looked more beautiful than ever as she spread these words of wisdom. She fixed your dress collar and untucked the hair from behind your ears.

"Thank you," you smiled, and you meant it. You felt confident and ready to take on the task at hand. "Don't wait up if I'm late," you winked confidently, said, and marched around the DX making a beeline to the front door. You stepped into the small building, immediately scanning it for Steve.

Instead, you saw Soda, his cheeks dirty and pink with scruffy hair to match his tired demeanor; next to him sat Sandy on the counter.

"How's it goin'?" you smiled. Damn you were nervous again, you fiddled with the bag handles as you waited for a response.

"Hi Y/n," both shouted out in unison, then the two lovebirds fell into fits of laughter. You couldn't help but crack a smile as you made your way towards them.

As you opened your mouth to speak, Soda beat you to it.

"Uh, he's in the garage," he smiled his famous smile, and quickly, his focus went back to Sandy.

You felt a bit shocked at the immediate implication that you were there for Steve, but soon realized you had trotted in with a bright birthday bag, which had started to make your arm ache. The gift was rather large; it was a toolbox, the real nice professional ones from a catalog. Inside it, there were different compartments and a few beautiful steel tools. Your uncle worked at a hardware shop, and you had to shamelessly ask him to put in the order for you. That's how you met Steve initially, well, besides school, your uncle was the DX's main supplier.
