Mitch stared down at his plate of food, his heart still beating wildly out of place and scarily loud. He couldn't focus on anything around him, he could only focus on the three words Scott had sent him 2 hours ago.

scott ☺️: i love you

How would he even reply back?

How could he?

Did he even mean it?

Did he just say it because he was happy?

What if he did mean it?

Does Mitch even feel the same way?

Of course he does. But, he didn't know if that feeling was real.

"Mitch!" His mom exclaimed, snapping him out of his panicked trance.

"S-Sorry. Z-Zoned out." Mitch stuttered, clearing his throat and picking at his food.

"Are you ok, son? You seemed spaced out." His dad asked.

"I-I'm fine. I swear." Mitch lied, sweat practically dripping off of his forehead.

"You're legit sweating." His sister noticed, cringing at him.

"It's hot in here."

His mom and dad gave each other a look. A look that said "should we do something?".

Soon enough, the family finished their dinner, and the teens went upstairs to their rooms.

"Hey, Damien is coming over in like 10 minutes. Could you tell him I'm getting ready when he comes to the door?" His sister asked before going into her room.

"S-Sure." Mitch stuttered, smiling fake.

Becca looked at his little brother. He was sweating buckets, he seemed a little shaken up, he was stuttering.

"Did you smoke weed or something?"

Mitch's eyes widened, "What?! No! Why would I do that?!"

Becca laughed, "I'm kidding, mitty. But, what's up with you?"

"Seriously nothing, Becca."

"You say that, but you look like you're post anxiety attack."

Mitch looked at her. He remembered all the times she asked him what's wrong. He remembered all the times he lied to her.

"...I'm dating a boy in college and he just said he loves me."

Becca's whole face dropped to the carpet flooring, her eyes popping out of her head. She couldn't believe this. Her little brother, who once asked her what the word "pussy" meant, was dating a college boy.

He was dating!

He was dating a boy!
