"Such a gentleman," She replied.
"I am, aren't I?"
"Don't hit me with the rhetorical questions," Ophelia spat.
"So you agree, I am a gentleman."
"On occasions."
Tom continued to speak to his group. She must have dozed off at some point as she was woken by Avery.
"It's time to go," Ophelia looked at the clock which read ten to ten. She looked puzzled trying to recall when she fell asleep.
"Hurry up before Tom and the rest come back down," Avery pulled her up.
The three Slytherin students ran out of the common room and continued to run at full speed to the clock tower courtyard.
"You know, this was your idea, so why are you late?" Dove asked when the three of them arrived panting.
Ophelia shrugged as she continued to pant trying to get the oxygen back into her lungs, "let's go." It was barely audible but everyone understood what she said when she pointed in the direction of the forest.
The group of ten split themselves up into pairs and walked together mixtures of different conversations until they reached a specific spot in the woods. Ophelia led the group to this spot as she spent most of her fifth year here with Emory, they'd too often have bonfires here.
The group put down their picnic blankets while Rune and Avery picked out some logs for a little fire.
When the two boys came back they neatly placed the logs in a small circle, Rune pulled his wand out but he soon jumped back when a burst of fire came from Ophelia's wand, startling him.
"Merlin's beard, Ophelia," Rune said, holding his hand over his heart.
Ophelia and Nicole were left crying their eyes out from laughing. Once their laughter died down and they managed to compose themselves, they pulled out the sweets that they had previously bought from Honeydukes earlier on in the day.
They emptied out the bag and threw different sweets to different people, within less than two minutes later everyone had some sort of sweet in their mouth.
"So is everyone going to the Ball tomorrow with someone?" Morgandy was the first to speak up.
"Yes," everyone said in unison.
"Who are you going with, Avery?" Ophelia asked.
"Misty Reeves," Avery let out, it was barely a whisper, he knew Ophelia had a very strong opinion on her.
"Lush," Ophelia tried her best to make her smile look genuine.
"What is your problem with her anyway?" Twyla asked.
"It's a long story," Ophelia stuttered.
"We have time," Rune smirked, Ophelia simply rolled her eyes, Rune copied this action like he usually did.
"Well if you must know. Long story short, I was with Tom one day in third year, and we were casting hexes back and forth to each other, basically having a mini-duel in the common room. She came along and walked through the middle of us when I sent a spell towards Tom but she got in the way and she ended up flying across the room because I casted out the Stupefy spell which when I casted it I wasn't strong enough to knock her out," Nicole let out a snicker and Ophelia continued, "she ended up landing on one of the sofas and pulling her wand out on me threatening to use an unforgivable curse on me."
Morgandy let out a gasp of rage and had a deadly glare on her face, "so everyone overheard her say that and they formed a small circle around us, chanting her on saying to do it and whatever. She started to say the start of the Killing Curse but I blocked her using wordless magic, that was the first time I used wordless magic but in my head, I don't know what spell I used, but it was dark stuff, and that's why she has a load of scars on her. So, that's how I scarred Misty and how I nearly died."
Morgandy looked at Avery with a 'really?' look which Avery and Orion both nodded their heads.
Before anyone could say anything, Abner, Daxten, Emory, Theodore Rothschild, Vincent Whittaker, Edison Convington and Caspian Rutherford walked out of the trees.
"What'd we miss?" Theodore Rothschild said, a Gryffindor seventh year and Emory's best friend, he was snobby and stuck up, people only liked him because of his friendship with Emory, it was the same with Vincent Whittaker and Edison Convington.
"What are you doing here?" Elowen hissed.
"Oh come on now, El. Thought you loved having me around you?" Not only was Theodore snobby and stuck up, but he was also cocky and thought everyone loved him, as a matter of fact, they didn't.
"No," Elowen shook her head which gained laughs from the mixture of groups.
"Just sit down, does anyone else know?" Rune asked.
"Not that we know of, Abner only told us," Daxten said, Abner groaned and whacked Daxten as the seven boys sat down.
Abner walked round to Nicole and sat in-between Nicole and Ophelia. Nicole rolled her eyes whilst Abner slipped his arm around her and Ophelia stood up and walked over to Morgandy and Starr. As she walked over to the pair she felt eyes burn through the back of her head, she knew who was staring at her but she refused to make eye contact with him.
She sat next to Morgandy and they both mocked Abner's actions on Nicole. Nicole shot them a death glare, this prompted the whole group to burst into laughter, Abner was unaware of why everyone was laughing and looked so dumbfounded whilst Nicole's cheeks turned a deep shade of pink.
Morgandy and Ophelia caused the group to laugh further as they leaned on each other and wrapped their arms around each other's waists.
Nicole was uncomfortable you could tell, so to distract Abner, Rune started up a conversation with him.
"So Abner, are you looking forward to the Quidditch match against Gryffindor on Monday?" Rune asked.
"Of course, Ravenclaw are going to destroy Gryffindor," Abner said, high fiving Caspian.
"Yeah, you keep saying that every year, Abner, and look what happens every time, we beat you," Emory laughed clapping his hands.
"Gryffindor are way better than Ravenclaw," Nicole smiled.
"Hey, I'm one of your best friends, and this is how you treat me?" Morgandy fake cried, placing her hand on her chest.
Everyone laughed at Morgandy's reaction and as Abner removed his arm from around Nicole's waist and gave her a dirty look. She smiled to herself and pulled a face behind him as he turned back to Emory.
"This year is different," Abner started, "we've been training harder than ever; we want to beat Gryffindor this year."
"See there's a difference between want and will," Emory said, mocking Abner's previous action, high fiving Theodore.
The discussion of the upcoming Quidditch match continued until two o'clock in the morning. The group all came to a mutual decision and decided to head to bed. They all packed up whilst Ophelia put out the fire.
The group left with their friends from their houses. The only people left were Avery, Orion, Ophelia and Emory. Ophelia was unaware that Emory was still there, but by the time she turned around, it was only her and Emory. Emory dismissed the two Slytherin's using his power of being Head Boy.
Ophelia looked away as soon as she saw his piercing glare on her. She tried to walk past her but he pulled her back.
"Ophelia, I need to speak to you," Emory pulled her in, their faces were inches away from each.
Their eyes found each other within seconds. The way he held her was just like the day he first asked her out, the day he realised he was madly in love with her. He could see it there and then, he should have never taken the job offer, even if it was the job of his dreams, he should have left it. It has been just a week since their break up, he felt like he was under a spell whenever he was with her from the beginning of the school year until. He only felt untouched at night.
"Not now. Tomorrow," Ophelia said taking her gaze from his and moving out of his grip. She left him alone in the forbidden forest just like the night they broke up.
