Lance wrapped his arms over Keith's shoulders leaning against his back as the shorter boy lifted him off the ground, holding Lance's legs at his side. In this fashion Keith carried Lance to the nearest hospital. Upon arrival Keith noticed Lance making a call before having his ankle examined.
-----------------------
"Lance!"
A cry startled Keith as he turned to see a slender woman with skin just a few shades darker than Lance's running towards the two teenagers.
"What happened? Are you okay?"
Now standing in front of the taller boy she began assessing his physical condition, an expression of concern plastered over her face.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. I just sprained my ankle," Lance assured the older woman, then gesturing towards Keith, "This is Keith, he's the one who carried me here."
The woman turned towards the shorter boy now, her lips curling into a friendly smile.
"Nice to meet you Keith, I'm Allura. Thank you for taking care of Lance."
Having suddenly been placed on the spot Keith stood awkwardly, raising a hand he let out a meek, "Hi." Allura looked to be around her 20s, she had long pastel silver hair pulled neatly into a bun and bright cerulean eyes contrasting starkly against her darker skin. She didn't look particularly similar to Lance so the Asian boy couldn't help but wonder how the two were related. As if reading his expression Lance began rambling, answering Keith's unuttered questions.
"Allura is my cousin but she's more like an older sister or a mother to me. My parents were always busy with work so they were never really around... Allura's family lived next door so she was the one who always took care of me growing up."
"I practically raised him," Allura finished, laughing warmly as she reminisced.
Keith stood by, watching the exchange until they'd finally decided to head home. Observing the two parting figures, he'd witnessed the warmth of family.-----------------------
The voice of knowledge echoing off unwilling victims enclosed within a serene space from which the natural world could be heard in the distance, an undaunted ringing cuts through the usual classroom scene, catalysing the imminent wave of youth spilling impatiently through narrow doorways. Slipping into the masses a raven haired boy escaped in the fray.
Climbing the distance placed between him and the world Keith found himself opening the door on another lunch break spent in barren silence. The wind swept over the rooftop, icy breaths creeping past his skin, Keith sighed, "It's cold today."
WHAM
The door flew open abruptly, slamming into the pale teen's back with force enough to push him forward and lose balance, colliding with the ground beneath him. Naturally, as anyone with knowledge of the laws of momentum would know, with a near equal and opposite force the door bounced back from its initial collision, greeting the face of the taller boy who had initiated this outrageous sequence of events.
The result? On either sides of a single doorway two teenage boys were hunched over the cold concrete floors, groaning in pain.
Keith whipped back to see the culprit who'd interrupted his thoughts with a pain filled intermission. Seated before him was a slender-framed tanned boy with short, scruffy, chocolate brown hair. Crumpled up in on himself the boy cradled his nose, pain filled groans escaping from his lips. The boy who, it seems, has decided to make a habit out of cutting into Keith's loneliness, bearing the warmth of the sun, Lance. Keith could feel a tingling sensation reminiscent of the tugging of strings deep in his chest as he revelled at the thought. Slightly flushed, the raven haired boy sprung to the side of the taller boy at the revelation of his state of pain, concern replacing irritation."Hey, you okay? Lemme see," Keith expressed, worried as he gently moved Lance's arms, inching closer to inspect his injury, "Well it's not bleeding... But you should probably put some ice on it, it's a bit red" releasing a sigh of relief the shorter boy continued with a teasing laugh, "Idiot, you've gotta be more mindful of your surroundings."
Nodding dejectedly the taller boy whimpered as he lifted himself off the ground, finding his balance he then prompted, "Are you okay?"
Taken aback by the sudden display of concern directed toward him Keith simply nodded as he too scrambled to his feet.
"We should head over to the infirmary," Keith suggested
"No!" Lance's response was abrupt and startled the raven haired boy beside him, "I mean... I wanted you to meet my friends!"
"Wha-?" before Keith could protest the tanned boy was already dragging the shorter boy down the stairs.-----------------------
"Like I said, all this extra mass will just slow the aircraft down!"
"Safety is more important."
"But it should be lightweight and compact!"
"Hmm... True... Well I suppose yours is the most aerodynamically efficient design... But... After all it lacks safety."
"If I could just get my hands on the right alloy..."
"Hey guys," A tall, tanned teen interrupted the conversation shared between the two intellectuals, "What's up?"
"Oh just normal teen stuff," the smaller of the two replied. Standing behind Lance, Keith observed the girl with short, fluffy, light hazelnut hair and honey brown eyes framed by large, thin-rimmed, circular glasses.
"Right, 'cause normal teens discuss functional aircraft designs during their lunch breaks," Lance retorted peeking over the petite girl to view the papers spread across the table she and her companion, a much larger male with similarly short ear length, black-brown hair and nut brown eyes, were seated at. Keith noted that the larger male possessed a skin tone seemingly a shade between that of Lance's and his cousin, Allura's.
"Anyhow," Lance dismissed, "Let me introduce you to my new friend! His name is Keith."
Keith felt a light tug in his chest as it was flooded with an indescribable warmth at Lance's acknowledgement of him as a friend. He couldn't help thinking his existence held significance to the boy after all as a faint smile crept across his lips.
"Hi," the raven haired boy squeezed out awkwardly as attention shifted to him.
The smaller girl seemed to analyse him, her expression unreadable, before replying, "Pidge" and flashing a gaze of suspicion towards Lance. The larger boy, on the other hand, demonstrated a much friendlier response, although slightly uncertain, he properly introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Hunk, Lance and I have been friends since grade school. Let's eat!" Keith could sense that Hunk was no doubt a lover of food by his blatant joy towards his meal, whereas, Pidge was rather cautious and calculating in the way she assessed the new stranger.
