A WATTPAD FEATURED STORY
?Love pays no attention to color?
Jasmine Karesh never thought she'd spend her senior year of high school struggling to accept her Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder diagnosis, a disease that forbids her from forgetting the scho...
Selena went ahead and rambled off her theories while Shayan stayed quiet, sitting in the grass with his arms around his knees. He looked down at the ground with nothing going through his mind but Jasmine's name.
He wished she had told him about her threatener. He wished Jasmine knew he would always be there for her, no matter what happened. No matter what she ever said to him, no matter whoever tried to keep them apart, he would always swallow up his pride to help her, time after time.
Meanwhile, Selena waved Jasmine's phone around and offered it to Maria.
"The person who did this has been texting her. They haven't stopped calling her since the party. You should track it again," Selena said and Maria placing the phone in her pocket.
"Thank you," She replied. Shayan's eyebrows drew together when he noticed that her demeanor a little too forced and her voice was a little too stiff. That was enough to send off a series of red flags in his mind.
"I think I'll go over to Jasmine's and let her family know where she is. I'm sure you called them and everything, but I think a familiar face would be good for them. I'll meet you at the hospital, Shayan." Selena threw her coat over her shoulder and offered him a curt nod, parting ways with Maria without so much as another glance.
The red flags in Shayan's head were replaced with a loud siren after he viewed the interaction. He knew Jasmine would never have noticed these signs because she was so blinded by her love for her best friend, but he was immune.
He didn't trust Selena Astor anymore.

"BIANCA KARESH, you are under arrest for the aggravated assault of Jasmine Karesh," the Head Officer growled, handcuffing her hands behind her back.
Maria stepped forward, giving Bianca a once over. "We have a warrant to search this house and until you are formally charged within twenty-four hours, you will be in holding with no bail. We want to make sure you get what you deserve for almost killing your own niece."
The rest of the force entered the house and started their search, while Maria went upstairs to Bianca's room.
Aishwarya and Varun Karesh held onto each other for dear life as the scene unfolded. They may have hated Bianca with every ounce of their being, but they could never see her hurting the one family member that loved her just as much as her own children.
It didn't make sense.
Bianca shook her head, tears streaming down her face. She knew she couldn't say anything, fearing that they'd use it against her. She flashed a desperate look to Jasmine's parents, one that asked them to reason with the police, but they stood rooted in place. They didn't know what to say so they didn't say anything at all.
That was infinitely worse.
"Varun! Bhaiya, please!" she begged, throwing her remaining caution to the wind.
He did nothing.
A steady river of tears rolled down her cheeks and she bowed her head down in surrender. "Aishwarya, do something. I can't leave my children behind."
Her mother stared at Bianca blankly and the police officer gave the teary woman a shove, muttering something about not saying anything else for her own good.
"I'll only ask one thing of you. Take care of the twins for me," she whispered and Aishwarya finally nodded. Silence enveloped them after that, interrupted only by the heartbreaking sounds of Bianca's crying.
The policeman holding onto Bianca's arm called upstairs, "Find anything?"
"Yes," Maria yelled as she jogged downstairs. She pulled out a burner phone and waved it in front of her culprit's face. "Recognize this?"
Bianca shook her head again, confusion clearly written across the stress-induced creases in her forehead.
"It was found in your room, in your suitcase. It's full of texts sent to Jasmine, threatening her and her family," Maria said, her voice stiff as she turned to Jasmine's parents. "I'm guessing Jasmine didn't tell you about this?"
Varun whispered a quiet 'no' under his breath, his face clouding over with fury.
"Someone has been threatening her into distancing herself from her friends and family so that's she's an easy kill, for lack of a better analogy. That was who assaulted her, judging by the last text message sent to this number. And the owner of the phone is right here." Maria glared at her. "Let's take her in."
"No, no, no! That's not mine, I promise. Someone is framing me, Maria," Bianca pleaded, her body trembling. She would have collapsed if the officer was not holding her up.
"I don't think so, judging by your fingerprints on the phone." Maria turned to Aishwarya and Varun. "I am so sorry it had to come to this, but at least we have your daughter's tormentor behind bars. It was time."
They exited with Bianca, who was no longer struggling. She was no longer pleading with people who weren't on her side and she no longer wasted her tears.
She would get out of here and she knew it. Jasmine would come to her aid, as always. Once her niece woke up, their world would go back to normal.
A different savior came to her rescue, though, one that she hardly expected to stand up for her. It was the boy who had become another son to her. The boy who only had kindness within him, and nothing else.
He sprinted past the police cars in the driveway and faced Maria and Bianca with a stony grimace cutting across his lips.
"Shayan, they're framing me. They're saying I hurt Jas. Tell them it isn't true," she explained, her eyes lighting up with a spark of hope.
"We have the evidence, Ms. Karesh." Maria scoffed, shoving her toward the nearest car.
Shayan rolled his eyes. "It can't have been her, Maria. What Selena said was no more than a shot in the dark. How can you take a teenage girl's theory into this much consideration?"
"Like I said, there was evidence that perfectly backed up her claims."
"How do you know that Selena didn't plant the evidence there?" Shayan countered.
"I'm pretty sure Selena Astor wasn't able to access a suitcase in Jasmine's house just minutes before I arrived. Now, I'm done arguing with a teenager who has a grudge against his peer. Out of my way."
"No." Shayan raised his eyebrow and stood where he was, his spine ramrod straight.
Bianca sighed. "Move, Shayan. Don't give them an excuse to manhandle you." She shot Maria and the policemen behind her the rudest glare she could muster.
He shifted out of the way at her command but raised his voice over the chaos. "I'll get you out of there, Bia. As soon as Jasmine wakes up, I'll be able to save you."
Bianca flashed him a weak smile as she was forced into the police car. Shayan turned his attention to Jasmine's parents once the investigators sped away.
"Bianca and Jasmine deserve better than this. They deserve better than you." He stormed out to his beat-up truck after he spoke, leaving Aishwarya and Varun truly speechless for the first time that day.
