"I bet you're kinda confused after you ended up down here. I'll just have to explain things for you! You see, the Underground is full of love," it looked confident that it knew what it was talking about. "The love is spread by Friendliness Pellets!" Your jaw hung open as the little flower closed his eyes and concentrated for a second. Then, five little glowing objects just appeared out of nowhere, floating up above it.

"Woah," you uttered. You were so confused, yet so amazed. How hard did I hit my head when I fell?

The flower bounced up and down with excitement. "Mm hm!" It used the leaves on either side of its... body? Stem? You weren't sure. It used the leaves to gesture towards the little white "Friendliness Pellets" or whatever Flowey had called them. "Now, all ya gotta do is catch them! I feel like we're going to be the best of friends!" He smiled a little too joyously, so much that he almost looked... creepy in a weird way.

"O-okay...." You agreed automatically, "Um... F-Flowey." The flower's name rolled off your tongue like a new taste, strange and unfimiliar.

Flowey gave you another cheesy grin, winking again. "You ready, buddy?" It asked in its squeaky, slightly obnoxious voice.

"Um... sure." You replied, looking at the ground a little shyly. You were always a little nervous when meeting new people. And... talking flowers....

"Okay~! Catch as many as you can!" He sent the glowing pellets off, and you stood still as they collided with you.

Pain. Searing, horrible pain jolted through your body as the pellets hit your body, and you fell backwards, tears burning behind your eyes. You fought them back as Flowey's face contorted into a literal nightmare. You felt so weak, like there was just a fragment of you hanging on to life... the adorable flower wasn't that adorable anymore. Flowey grinned at you, showing its jagged teeth. You shuddered.

"Down here, it's kill or be killed." He growled in a low, scratchy tone. More glowing pill-shaped objects appeared out of the darkness. Fear struck your body like lightning, going together with the sharp pain that was destroying your entire body.

-Flowey's POV-
I smirked at the human as they fell back, crying out in pain. I concentrated for a moment, conjuring my 'Friendliness Pellets'. The human's eyes were glazed with fear and pain.

"Down here, it's kill or be killed." I hissed, my voice getting low. The bullets around me rose up higher, and I was about to launch them all at the human, killing them. They covered their eyes with their arms, tears leaking from their eyes. I was about to kill them. But I didn't. Something shifted inside of me. I wasn't sure why... but I stopped. I realized I didn't want to kill them.

Flowey, stop it. I shook my head, my petals swaying back and forth. But I just didn't want to kill them. I was so confused. This weird feeling came over me, and looking at how innocent they were... I just couldn't. How the heck was I supposed to apologize? Do I even apologize? I had literally taken them down to 1 HP... and now I didn't want to kill them?

"Hey, um," I blurted out quickly, suddenly dreading the thought of them hating me too. "I'm sorry!" I yelped, and the human removed their arms from the front of their face. "I... I...." I was lost for words. I didn't know what the heck to say. What was I doing? This was the last soul I needed....

The human breathed heavily, each breath shaking.

"I... I'm sorry!" I repeated, shrinking down into the ground. I disappeared into the soil, confused about why I didn't want to kill them. I was about to but then... I just didn't I guess.

I don't know why I didn't do it.

Why didn't I finish them?

I don't know....

-Your POV-
You were still crying as Flowey retracted into the earth. The pain was unbearable. Suddenly you heard a feminine voice rise up, coming from farther down the hallway.

A goat-like creature wearing pretty clothes and standing upright on two feet burst into the room, her eyes wide with panic. "What a miserable creature, trying to hurt such an innocent youth...." She said. "My child... are you alright?"

You couldn't say anything, so you just gave a tiny nod as the goat-like being embraced you, wrapping her soft, furry arms around you in a comforting hug. "My name's Toriel." She murmured soothingly, which actually helped calm you down a little. You stopped crying, even thought you were still shaking.

"I-I'm (Y/N)...." You sniffled, looking up into her kind eyes.

Toriel gazed back at you, smiling softly. "Come with me, my child." She helped you up off the ground. "I'll show you your new home." She declared 'new home' like it was nothing.

New home? Am I gonna be stuck here... forever? The thought of never seeing the people that you loved ever again tore your heart in two. You followed Toriel anyway, partly because you didn't have a choice since she grabbed your hand by her paw and started leading you through the Underground... as Flowey had called it.
