You pulled your phone out of your bag, and your heart sank as you saw the cracked screen. "Crap...." You muttered under your breath, your new plan being shattered. You plopped back down into the bed and actually rolled over on your side to lie down. The mattress was fairly comfortable. You felt your eyes slowly fluttering shut. You tried to fight sleep, but after a minute or so you decided to give in as it dragged you into darkness.

You woke up suddenly in the bed that you had gone to sleep in. It took you a minute to remember the recent events, but when you fully understood the situation again you screamed into your pillow. You were surprised that Toriel didn't come running after all that "come my child, I'll protect you" crap. Toriel was nice, but you thought the way she was treating you was a little weird.

You got out of bed and walked down the halls to the kitchen. She wasn't there. You walked to a room with a recliner. No sign of her. Where was she? Suddenly you heard voices coming from a hallway.

"I don't want to have to fight you." Toriel's voice.

"I'm sorry, but I really want to leave." A young monster's--or person's--voice.

What the heck? You decided to investigate. Locating where the voices were coming from, you ran down a hall. You made a turn and saw Toriel and--wait, another child? You weren't the only human who had fallen down!

"Hey, Toriel! You never told me there were other humans down here!" You exclaimed. Toriel didn't even respond. She didn't even notice. Her and the child just kept talking. "Um, I'm sorry to interrupt, but...." You trailed off. It was like you weren't even there. She didn't even turn in your direction or give any sign that she had heard you.

Suddenly, without warning--and there probably would have been a warning if you had listened to the conversation before trying to interfere--the two broke out into some sort of fight. You couldn't really tell what was happening. Toriel was halfheartedly launching magic projectiles at the child, and the child was fighting back. What the heck was going on? You watched for around five minutes before Toriel collapsed to the ground.

"I don't want to let you go...." She murmured, and the child embraced her. They shared a hug together, before Toriel spoke again. "But you proved that you're strong enough. Please... be safe...." She murmured, still hugging the child gently. What was going on here?

Then the child left, opening a door and walking outside it. What? Toriel turned away from the door, regret shimmering in her eyes. She sighed heavily, walking towards you.

"Toriel!" You spoke up. She didn't noticed. Then she came closer, and literally walked right through you. She walked right through you. What? Why? How?

I must be dreaming. You thought.

In that moment, you woke up in the bed that you had been sleeping in. Is there really another child underground? Not that you were a child, but you certainly didn't act fully like an adult. You loved to joke around, and you did really stupid things sometimes. The point was, was there really another human in this weird cave system? You hopped out of bed immediately, only to find a piece of pie on a white plate, laying on the ground.

Toriel.... You thought warmly. You ate the piece of pie, savoring the butterscotch-cinnamon flavor. As soon as the pie was devoured, you went out of the room and tried to find Toriel. She wasn't there.

"That's weird." You said aloud. "Toriel? Torieeeeellll?" You practically sang out, wondering where she had gone off to. You decided against going off on your own; after the... what was its name...? Oh yeah... right, the Flowey incident, you thought it was best to stay just in case you ran into another creature and Toriel wasn't there to save your butt if you needed help. Toriel would do that, right?
