Chapter 48: The Surprise

"Wha? What's wrong?" Y/n groaned as they sat up

"We need you, right now. It's an emergency!" Amethyst told with exaggerated arm movements

"What's going on?" Y/n asked as they quickly got out of bed, still in their pajamas.

"Follow me! There's no time!" Amethyst said in a flurry

"Hold on let me get my-," Y/n reached for their bookshelf to grab their gun

"No time for that! Come on!" Amethyst yanked Y/n arm away and began running with them down the stairs

"Agh, alright!" Y/n groaned as they tried keeping pace with Amethyst so she didn't dislocate their arm, "Where are we even going?"

"Shh! No talky!" Amethyst hushed as she dragged Y/n towards the temple. Once the two reached the beach, Amethyst slowed down and let go of Y/n, "Alright, stay right here," Amethyst told as she inched around the corner to the temple

"Where are you going?" Y/n frowned, "I thought it was urgent,"

"It is! Just... Stay right where you are," Amethyst said as she turned around the corner and ran.

"What is... even happening," Y/n asked to themself as they rubbed their eye, trying to get the morning fuzzy vision to go away. Y/n wiggled their toes through the warm beach sand, looking down at their feet and thinking about how they'd have to wash their feet off since they just ran through the dirty streets.

"Y/n, you can come over! Quick!" Amethyst called from the side of the mountain blocking the view of the beach

"Alright, can you tell me what's going on n-" Y/n began as they walked to the beach

"Happy Birthday!" Steven, Greg, Connie cheered as Y/n walked over. The Gems were next to the three and everyone was wearing a birthday hat, except for Amethyst who had it around her nose, "Guys! You're supposed to say it with us!"

"Oh, sorry!" Pearl said, "Happy Birthday,"

"Happy Birthday!" Amethyst posed with a large grin

"Happy Birthday," Garnet said

"Uh... It's not my birthday," Y/n laughed a bit

"I know," Steven blushed a bit, "But a few nights ago I realized you've been here a year and we never celebrated your birthday! So I thought, 'we have to celebrate Y/n's birthday!' So, I planned this make up party!"

"He was very adamant about it," Pearl said

"He woke up screaming about it," Amethyst told

"I did not!" Steven defended

"You kind of did..." Pearl said, "I mean, you weren't screaming indefinitely, but you woke up and screamed,"

"Guys! You're embarrassing me!" Steven face turned a red

"I really appreciate it Steven," Y/n smiled as they went and hugged him tightly, "Thank you for this!"

"D'aw it was nothing," Steven assured as he hugged Y/n back, "Ooh, we've gotta get you in birthday attire!"

"Uh... Does that mean what I think it means?" Y/n fretted

"No, no, no!" Greg laughed, "You're not getting in your birthday suit,"

"What is a birthday suit?" Pearl asked

"Don't worry about it," Connie giggled

"No, I mean a birthday crown and cape!" Steven cheered as he went into his cheese burger backpack and retrieved the two aforementioned items
