Y/N's breath caught in her throat. Angelica's reasoning made sense. And she'd be lying to herself if she said she didn't want to see Lafayette.
"Angelica... I can't. Maybe if it were just me, I could try and give him a chance to explain himself." Her voice was shaky, she didn't sound confident. "I have someone else to look out for now, I can't trust him so easily. I refuse to let him hurt me or my child anymore."

"Guess who's back in town?" Alexander exclaimed, walking into the dining room where Y/N and the Schuyler sisters sat. "Lafayette! I invited him over for dinner tonight. He's bringing his fiancée. She seemed nice."
Y/N nearly choked on the tea she was drinking.
"You did what?" Angelica gaped at Alexander. "You didn't even ask if it was okay with us."
Alexander's eyes widened, and he put up his arms in surrender. "I apologize. I didn't realize it was a problem. I thought we were all friends with Lafayette, I guess not. What do you have against him?"
The Schuyler's and Y/N all shared a look. Alexander was the only one who hadn't pieced together the fact that Lafayette was the father of Y/N's child. Everyone else seemed to have figured it out quite quickly. Alexander could really be dense sometimes.
"We don't have anything against Lafayette." Eliza sighed, shaking her head at her husband's obliviousness.
Alexander still looked confused, but just shrugged. "Good. Then it won't be a problem. I expected you guys to be more excited. Especially you, Y/N. You and Lafayette were really close."
"A little too close." Peggy muttered.
Y/N shot Peggy a death glare, but quickly turned her attention back to Alexander. "Yeah, well, people grow apart, okay? We didn't exactly leave things on good terms."
"Hm." Alexander said, furrowing his eyebrows. "Perhaps John and Hercules will be more excited. I'm going to find them."
Alexander left the dining room, he could sense the hostilities in the room, and didn't want to hang out there any longer than necessary.
When he was safely gone, Angelica let out a sigh. "What was he thinking? Dear lord, Alexander can be so clueless sometimes!"
"Shh, Angelica." Y/N shook her head. "It's better he doesn't know, really. I may not be Lafayette's biggest fan right now, but I'd rather not have Alexander kill him. He's going to be furious if he finds out."
"When he finds out." Eliza corrected. "You have to tell him at some point, Y/N."
Y/N frowned. "I know."

Y/N Hamilton was in no mood to attend a dinner party.
Especially not one with the father of her unborn child, and his new fiancée. Something about that picture just didn't sound like an ideal night for her.
She blamed Alexander in part for this. No, she blamed Alexander completely for this.
Y/N had changed into a simple gray dress for the dinner. She could no longer fit into her beautiful colorful gowns the Schuyler's had bought her. The gray dress was nicer than some of her other maternity gowns, but that wasn't saying much. Y/N sighed at her reflection, and moved away from her reflection. She wasn't the same person she used to be, and all she could do was hope that she was changing for the better.
