Chapter 53: Too Far

"F-unny?" Peridot tilted her head

"Peridot, if you can get the magnetron out of that microwave, we'll have everything we need, " Pearl approached, "Except for the drill head and tungsten, how's that going Y/n?"

"Working on it," Y/n said

"Why don't I just get an injector drill head from the Kindergarten?" Peridot suggested

"Oh, well, I guess that's something you could try," Pearl said tentatively

"She's not going to the Kindergarten without a chaperone!" Garnet called out

"You've got to be joking!" Peridot groaned

"You'll know when I'm joking," Garnet responded

"Nyehhh," Peridot made an odd face as she shrunk towards Y/n

"Y/n, Me, and Steven can go with her!" Amethyst suggested

"I've gotta stay behind and get the tungsten stuff in order," Y/n said

"If I am required to have a chaperone, I demand that Y/n is one of them!" Peridot snapped

"You can get the tungsten once you come back," Pearl assured

"Alright, I guess we can keep an eye on her," Y/n said

"Approved. Keep her in line, Y/n," Garnet said

"You got it," Y/n gave a thumbs up

"Log date- 7112. The Amethyst, The Y/n, and the Steven have volunteered to help me dismantle this Era 1 drill. How stylistically displeasing. The newer ones have a nicer finish," Peridot spoke into an old tape recorder

"You making more nerd notes?" Amethyst asked

"What is nerd?" Peridot frowned, earning a chuckle from Amethyst, "Can you use it in a sentence?"

"Ahem. Nerd. You are a nerd," Amethyst laughed

"Amethyst! Cut that out!" Steven called

"As you can see, this planet is annoying and everything is annoying," Peridot spoke into the recorder, then looked up at Y/n and back down, "Almost everything... Amongst its transgressions is the need for the Amethyst to ask permission from the perma-fusion,"

"Perma-fusion"? Is that what you call Garnet?" Amethyst asked

"I could call her lots of things. I could call her two things! Two clods!" Peridot gave off her signature laugh, "Walking around like she's... one clod!"

"What's wrong with that?" Steven asked

"She's not even fighting! She's, you know, she's just, y-you know like the..." Peridot pounded her fists together, "You know!"

"You're a real gem, Peri," Amethyst laughed while Steven pushed his fits together, confused

"Yes, I am.... a gem," Peridot said

"Okay, okay. Do Steven next. What's weird about Steven?" Amethyst laughed

"Where do I even begin! He's some sort of hybrid abomination, I don't even understand how he functions! His organic half consumes so much energy that he has to constantly feed, and he spends so much time expelling, that he has a whole room dedicated to it!" Peridot snickered

"Ah, no, something else! Talk about something else!" Steven blushed, "Talk about Y/n!"

"The Y/n," Peridot clapped her hands together in anticipation, "They don't even make sense! First, I'm told humans are so fragile they can't survive a twenty foot drop off a roof, but the Y/n can survive a drop over 327,000 feet and an explosion? That is just illogical! You'd think they're a gem, but they clearly are not! And now they somehow have the ability to travel time as well? It makes no sense!"
