Chapter thrity-three "the fall and a scary surprise"

So I was given my next target to kill, I didn't like this, I've never seen the boss so....uneasy....about a client wanting someone dead, but as long as I got paid I didn't care, I followed the tunnels till a found the person I was hoping to see "hey M, boss got a new job for us?" My partner asked I nodded as I handed him the file, he skimmed through it, as he did I fixed my hair into a ponytail moving the hair out of my left eye "gonna guess somethings up right?" He asked I nodded "Okay shoot" he said I sighed "I dunno B, it's just the boss seemed uneasy..." I said "damn must be serious then, well when do we head out then partner?" He asked I smirked "couple hours pack your shit" I said punching him in the shoulder, he chuckled punching mine before walking off, 'this, this will be interesting' I thought.

The world is shit and fucked up and we know this, but our organisation is literally ready for this kind of bullshit, we've been traveling for a few hours non-stop (well except for the city with all the zombies in it we avoided that completely) I saw B, fiddling with something I elbowed him and pointed to the thing he had, he stopped fiddling with it, and I saw it was a stick of TNT, I scrunched up my face as if to say, really?, he chuckled "it's fine M, it's a last resort thing ya know! You know I prefer knives and shiz over explosives" he said shrugging I sighed nodding, we continued on for couple hours more with no talk, until we came to a decently sized town that hadn't been touched by taint, I pulled out the map we were supplied with, we were at least half an hour away from our destination on horse back but another hour on foot, I groaned, this was getting tiresome, my partner placed a hand on my shoulder "let's stop here for the night and end the target the next night, let's get some info first at least, that and maybe a drink" he said elbowing me at the last part I rolled my eyes and smiled "okay to the tavern!" He said leading the way I chuckled under my breath putting the map away and following after him. We sat down in the lively tavern in the corner cradling our cups of ale or alcohol whatever way you wanna see it, I took a couple of sips from mine, before looking around quickly, I saw someone approaching they seemed to know why we were here, they hurried towards us "t-that symbol over your eye, your from the clasp are you not?" The gentleman asked us "Yea we are, who wants to know?" B asked "I haven't seen your type down here in months" the gentleman said looking around nervous "you got info old man?" B asked again fiddling with his dagger on the table "depends..." the man sneered I chuckled under my breath I recognised this asshole, this was Tarry Serene, he gives info to us on certain people in certain places, the clasp has dirt on him because of his gambling and his daughter, "what's so funny lil miss?" Tarry asked I took another sip of my drink "how's your daughter Tarry?" I asked resting my face onto my fist as I stared at him "h-huh how do you—" "those small gambling trips can really spiral out of control...can't they Tarry?" I asked with a smirk, he stepped back slightly losing all sense of confidence, I chuckled again going back to my drink "what do you want to know?" Tarry asked "me and my partner here want info on someone up in that castle" B said finishing his drink Tarry gulped "elementals live there, you don't wanna be dealing with them" Tarry said "if I recall your family helped build that castle....correct?" B asked "they did" "then you can help us" "no I can't I don't know anything of these new people" "what about the castle?" "I don't have the fucking blueprints!" B ground his teeth pointing the dagger at Tarry's throat "your gonna mind your language, and your gonna fucking talk" B sneered "I told you I don't know nothing!" Tarry defended I finished my drink, I pulled back B's hand "don't bother" I said leaving some gold on the table "you got rooms correct?" I asked B nodded "well, we'll go sight seeing for now, apologies for the trouble Tarry" I said standing up and heading towards the door, B followed quickly after, we went into the alleyway next to the tavern, hiding in the shadows, B was fuming I rolled my eyes slightly "I got a plan" I said he snapped to attention "what's the plan?" He asked now interested, I pulled out a small file from my bag, Tarry's file "Mister Tarry Serene, has a daughter, ten year old Kayla, the light of his life being a single father with horrible gambling habits" I informed handing B the file, he read through it "so execute plan 36 then?" B asked excitedly I chuckled with a smile, before nodding.
