The Little's Swan {Complete + Edited}

'Happy Birthday'

When Bella lowers down her camera, their playfulness disappears, except Athena's when they see someone behind Bella. When Bella looks behind her, she sees Edward climbing out of his silver Volvo.

"Oh good. Cullen's here." Mike says drily. Jessica puts down Athena. "Yay."

The group move off. Athena runs towards Edward who picks her up and gives a hug.

"Hey there Athena." She giggles when she sees her mums face. Edward walks the rest of the way and stands in front of Bella.

"Happy Birthday." Bella's face falls when she hears this, Athena looks to her in worry.

"What's wrong Mamma?"

Bella looks to Athena with a small smile. "Don't worry Baby." Bella turns to Edward. "Don't remind me."

Edward frowns at her. "You birth is definitely a day to celebrate" Athena plays with Edwards hair.

Bella sighs sadly. "Not for me."

Edward raises an eyebrow at her. "Eighteen is a little early to be worrying about your age."

"It's one year older than you."

Edward chuckles. "Bella, I'm ninety." Athena scrunches her nose.

"Your old." Edward and Bella laugh. Bella gets a teasing smile on her face.

"True. Maybe I should be creeped out that I'm dating such an old guy."

Edward smiles at her, amused. "Yes, it's the age that's creepy, not the fact that your dating a vampire." Athena looks to him confused.

"Whats a Vampire?" Edward smiles at her.

"Don't you worry your little head about it." Edward turns to Bella and kisses her, tenderly, she kisses back. They pull away and Edward nods to the school.

"Class."

Bella sighs. "Right. Class." Bella catches her breath and takes Athena out of Edwards arms. Holding her on her hip, as they start towards the school, Edward stops when he hears something.

"Someone wants you."

"Bella." Athena turns towards the voice and let's out a sequel.

"Jakey!" Bella puts Athena onto the ground, she runs over to Jacob and jumps into his arms. He catches her and gives a big hug.

"Hey there, short stack."

Athena gives him a big, bright smile. Jacob holds up his hand and she high fives him, pretending she hurt his hand, Jacob looks to her in shock.

"Wow you have gotten strong, what have you been eating?" Athena giggles and shrugs. Jacob laughs before facing Bella and Edward who had walked up to them.

"God, Jacob, what are they feeding you on that Rez, steroids? You're huge."

"Wouldn't seem so drastic if you came around more. I mean, Athena comes way more than you do, and she's 3."

"I will soon and that's because dad takes her down whenever he goes fishing. Anyway isn't your school, like, ten miles that way." Bella points in the opposite direction of her. Jacob puts down Athena and holds up a car part.

"Just here buying this for the Rabbit. Im almost done with the rebuild. Gotta come take a ride when it's done." Athena walks back to Bella who picks her up and holds her. Jacob gets a look on his face and pulls something out of his coat.

"Oh, and hey, happy birthday. Your dad told my dad." He holds up a small woven dream catcher, feathers dangle from it. He hands it to Bella's spare hand. "I saw it the other day and thought of you - it catches bad dreams."

Athena looks to it in awe, Bella smiles to Jacob in thanks. "This, I need. It's great."

"The bells about to ring." The bell rings. Jacob gives Edward a fake smile.

"Ooh, look at you, all psychic."

"I don't have that particular gift but I can read a watch. I'm clever that way." They share a tight smile, Athena looks to them confused. Bella intercepts and squeezes Jacobs arm.

"Bye, Jake, and thank you."

Edward guides Bella and Athena away. "How come Jacob Black gets to give you a gift and I don't?"

Bella shrugs, fixing her hold on Athena. "He's just a friend."

Edward scoffs. "'Friends' don't spend two weeks looking for the perfect dream catcher."

Bella smacks his arm, Athena holds the dream catcher her Mum was given. "Stop reading his mind if he bothers you so much."

"Little hard to tune out." Bella just laughs, but Edward looks back with resentment. Jacob holds his gaze.

Athena waves to Jacob and waves back a while making a weird face, Athena giggles before she faces forward.
