"Danke, bruder."
With that, I watched as my little brother Ludwig flew off to organize the flock and help them destroy their nests and prepare for the long migration to a new safe home.
"Well, let's go get my mate, ja?"

You had been in quarantine for three days now. You were bored out of your mind and extremely lonely. The only contact you ever got with other people was to watch them stare at you from the safety of the other side of the glass, or when they chose to speak to you to ask how you were feeling and if you needed anything.
With a sigh, you stood up and made your way to the slotted door used to give you food and water. You patiently waited, but grew concerned as no food was offered.
You got ready to knock, when you heard the first sound you'd heard from outside of your "room" that didn't come from the speakers. It sounded like a strangled cry.
Turning your head, you gasped as a body was thrown into the glass, a bloody trail left behind as it slowly slid to the floor.
Looking up, you caught the eyes of a rather muscular, blond Avian with gravity-defying hair. His golden feathers glistened in the bright fluorescent lights, and he grinned at you, giving you a wave before returning to the fighting around inside the room beside yours.
A soft clicking sound caught your attention, and you looked up at the air vent on the roof. There, behind the vent's slats, was the pale face and red, slitted-pupil eyes of the albino Avian.
With a loud clatter and shriek of metal, the air vent was opened and Al offered his hands out for you to grab.
Not needing a second invitation, you ran and jumped, grabbing hold of his wrists, and he grabbing yours. You were soon pulled up into the chilly air vent, and given a warm hug.
But the hug didn't last long, as Al soon lead you through the maze of air ducts out and to the open. Waiting for you two were two more blond and one brunet Avian, as well as the one who had waved at you. You were confused as to how they managed to escape so quickly, but were glad all the same.
Swiftly you were picked up and the five of them began to flap off, leaving the building and city behind. They flew straight to the lake drinking huge amounts of water before searching the ground for something.
The brunet Avian chirped loudly, and soon you were all off again, soaring just above the trees to the north.
After about a few hours of flight, the Avians began to descend, slowly circling down around a stream and landing. They drank some more, and you joined in despite the uneasy feeling of the water not being as clean as it looked.
You were left with the brunet Avian as the two blonds and the albino left, and you felt nervous.

I needed to find (Name) something to eat, but I wasn't sure what to get her. We were pretty far from civilization, so human food was out of the question.
Perhaps some nuts, seeds or fruits? I wondered as I stood on a rather sturdy pine branch, surveying our surroundings thoughtfully.
So far, we haven't been followed by humans. But that won't last forever. We broke my mate out of a science lab, they'll definitely try to track us down.
With a huge sigh, I looked around for any fruit- or nut-bearing trees I can find.
