Saving Who?

Chapter 26

"Maybe because I feel like.. I want to take care of you." he said then realised that he was coming off like he was her brother.

"Oh. Well, you don't have to take care of me. I'm sure Ryan told you to do that. You don't have to." she said feeling annoyed. 

The rest of the walk home, they didn't purposely brush against each other, they just walked in silence.

"I don't get why you're angry." he said even though he knew exactly why.

"When you look at me, is all you see the fat girl who was a pain in the ass to Ryan? A child?!" she yelled and banged open the balcony door.

"Is that what you think? That I see you as a child?" he said making her jump in shock because he was now standing behind her.

He turned her around to face him and they stared at each other. "I think that I was such and asshole to you before. That I judged you before getting to know know you.. now look at you. I'm the biggest fool ever. You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. I don't deserve someone as caring and passionate as you, and you don't deserve someone like me." he said in pain.

"Everyone deserves someone." she said quietly and moved away from him and went back into the room.

That night, she slept on the huge bed while he decided to sleep on the sofa. In the morning, they pretended like they never kissed, never touched or teased each other. Kat got behind the wheel of her car and started the 7 hour journey back to the city.

7 hours od strained and forced chat was what followed, and when they did reach their place, both of them silently wondered why it had to be this way.

Talen, didn't want to drag her through what he was going through. He was severely traumatized by what had happened. He felt like he would turn violent very quickly if anyone pushed him. What he didn't know was, Kat would be there through out the way.

"Young lady, you have a lot of explaining to do." her nana said sternly when they entered her place.

"I sent you a text nan." Kat said confused, not knowing why it was such a big deal.

"Rosa, it was my fault. I suggested that we go out on a whim. Don't take it out on her." Talen cut in.

"It is very irresponsible of you to just drive off like that. In the middle of the night! With no means of contact!" she lectured him and he took it in with a blank face.

"Just stop nan. You're over reacting. It's not like you eve notice I'm here anymore." Kat said frustrated.

Her nana's face changed, hurt flashed across. "Is that what you think? Just because I don't stay here anymore, I don't care about you?"

Not knowing what to say, Katerina kept quiet. 

"Oh please. Save your crap for someone else." she snapped at him and went to her room, slamming her door and causing it to reverberate.

She had never fought with her nana before. This was the worst thing ever. But, she did feel like everyone was moving on with their lives. She stood up and went out to the living room to search for Talen. 

Seeing that he wasn't there, she barged into his room and he was in the midst of taking off his pants. HIs shirtless self was definitely a distraction, but it didn't stop her from asking "Do you even like me? Or have just been leading me on?" 

Talen stood there looking at her distraught face. Yes, yes he wanted her. He didn't understand why, but he knew she was the one for him. Yet, he couldn't bring himself to say that. There was so much he had to deal with, and he didn't want to drag her through all of it. So he did what he thought was the best. 

He broker her heart "Yes, I've been doing that. You are hot as hell. I couldn't resist myself." he said trying to sound bored and as much of an asshole as possible.

Kat's lips trembled slightly as she tried to stomach the pain she was feeling. "So, you don't care if I see someone else?" she stepped closer to him. So close in fact, there was barely any space between them for a piece of paper to be slid in between.

"You don't care, if I touch another man this way?" she lightly traced his chest up and down.

Talen willed himself not to respond to her touch. He managed not to explode while she touched him.

"Never have I met a man who's so stubborn. I'll ask you one last time. Do you like me? Would it bother you if I saw other men?" she asked quietly.

"I said I don't care. Are you always this clingy?" he responded.

Kat, fell for his harsh words, and left the room, not saying anything.

How did everything turn so bad?
