From the Bottom of Our Hearts

Start from the beginning

Calculating the right time for when the giant was far back enough towards the net, Fukui tossed the ball over. Murasakibara jumped to catch it with his marks still at his back; the force caused the three second-years to stumble and fall as he then jumped again with incredible strength to dunk it.

It was the hammer of destruction: Thor's Hammer.

"Oh. Sorry," he said, his tone heavy with sarcasm as he glanced back at the fallen players, especially Teppei. "I didn't think you'd be knocked down so easily. Didn't Tomo-chin say you got stronger?"

"We're not finished yet!" Teppei shouted as he retrieved the ball and threw it to Izuki for a fast break. Since Murasakibara got off defense, they finally had an opportunity for a counterattack. But the miracle was right behind the point guard—his large strides made catching up that much easier.

"Izuki!"

He quickly tossed the ball back to Teppei and allowed the center to play point guard again. To Seirin's surprise, Yosen stopped their strategy of triple-teaming him.

"I'll stop you myself," Murasakibara vowed as he drew near. "Come on!"

He's really serious now, Tomoko noted as her brows furrowed. It's almost like a beast was awakened in him. She watched as he effortlessly blocked the path with his left hand after his right hand was denied by Teppei's Right of Postponement. This is the 'unfair' raw talent Mura-kun possesses...

"I'm tired of this strategy," he said before dashing off to receive the ball from Fukui on the other side of the court. He jumped just as Kagami came up to stop him.

"Murasakibara!"

"Push through it!" Tomoko cheered loudly with her body shaking with a mix of anticipation and hope. However, even the redhead was slammed down to the foot of the basket; the blow of the dunk was even stronger than the one she saw with Nebuya's demonstration—and that was saying something. As the hoop was released, the entire top creaked dangerously.

"Basketball is a contest of shortcomings. The hoop is three meters in the air. You can't call that fair. The game favors the tall. That's the foundation of this shitty sport," Murasakibara turned his back on the teetering hoop and his violet eyes bore into Tomoko's wide ones before breaking it with a scoff. She barely had enough time to recover from her shock when the board succumbed to gravity. Kagami managed to move just in time as the board came crashing down before everyone's eyes.

Th-That's insane. His strength... And...

"What's so fun about this?" She heard the miracle iterate and she couldn't help but clench her fists tight. "To me, all ideals are nothing but trash."

-----

Ichirou stared with disbelief. The crowd was also stunned into silence as the referees were forced to put the game on hold until the hoop can be replaced. He really broke the entire thing off!

"Atsu-chan's mad," Keiko commented. Her face showed no shock or surprise at how insanely strong her brother was as she twirled a strand of hair between her fingers. "I haven't seen him throw a tantrum like this in a while."

"Tantrum?" he echoed at the nonchalant response. I think it's more accurate to call it 'Godzilla on a rampage'!

Keiko nodded as her violet eyes stayed on her brother's broad back for a moment longer. "The Murasakibaras are all very atypically large for Japanese standards, you know, and we all got made fun of at some point for sticking out among our peers. But Atsu-chan got it particularly bad as a kid—on top of his height, he isn't the brightest sometimes. You know how cruel kids can be... Then one day, some neighboring kids saw him and asked him to play mini basketball and he found that he was good at it. I guess it's not such a surprising talent to have when you're so tall," she explained. "But thing is, despite never trying hard to learn about it, he can understand basketball exceptionally well. Atsu-chan really has a natural talent for it. So, our parents got him to join a basketball team. That's how those tantrums started—he would always try to make kids who aren't talented to quit the team."
